Beal will be 27 next season and looking forward to moving somewhere competitive. Miami seems a good place, and we'll be better financially.

At the trade deadline we have Dragic + Meyers Leonard as expirings in 2020. Olynyk, Waiters, and James Johnson will all be expirings in 2021. We have a 2020 draft pick we can offer to Washington on draft night too. Right now it's tough to trade for Beal, but Washington won't look as good at the trade deadline if they aren't in playoff contention. They'll have the same choice every team faces with free agency. Get something for him now or wait for him to walk in 2021.

All we need to do is (1) win games (2) show improvements with our youth and (3) not purchase a big fat contract like Chris Paul's. If we don't do something stupid, we can reel him in.

If you are referring to my comment Gom I was more so referring to Giannis part of that comment being the pipe dream people seem to think on here. I agree I think it's more than likely that Beal will be available in 2021 or before that. As far as Giannis goes I'm just not confident Milwaukee are going to be able to keep him there. He might be a super loyal guy or prefer the supermax money and stay there but I just have never seen Milwaukee retain a big named player for the duration of their career, so I'm not confident that he will decide to stay especially with their team locked into a lesser version of their team last year beyond 2021.

Sure they got a bunch of picks back but as long as the same staff is in place, what makes anyone confident they will do anything when they had more talent recently than any of those picks will likely amount to ?

that is to say no Thunder fan should say the Heat are in a “tough spot” when the mean age of our core is ~21 and will be a playoff team.

The dude meant no will ill in his comment. He was just responding to me saying we aren't one piece away from contending.

And we aren't in that a great spot. Our core is not ~21 unless you want to exclude our 30 year old best player in Butler (whose on a 4 year deal), and include our 19 year old unproven rookie.

We also don't have two of our next 4 draft picks which completely limits our ability to trade picks in the future (thanks Stepien). We also don't have a second rounder till like 2027.

Just because the Thunder have fallen apart this offseason, doesn't exclude their fans from being able to make assessments of our own situation.

He has also the right to say we are not in a tough spot wether you like it or not. Where did he say they can't make an assessments ? Or do we have to agree with what they say about us ?

Both of them have the right to voice their own opinions about their teams and other teams.

Never said we had to agree with him. In fact he was basically just agreeing with what I had said.

My objection was generally toward the statement "that is to say no Thunder fan should say the Heat are in a “tough spot.” We were talking specifically about the Heat's situation. Not comparing the two teams.

But what, there's no problem if a Laker fan had said it? Whoever your favorite team happens to be has no bearing on your ability to assess other teams.

why you didnt like him?

yes as he got old he sucked so that's natural for most players his best years were with miami

He never took the leadership to be the #1 on the team. He would disappear and be such a Beta. Good player but not worth the money he got at the time when we traded PJ and Mash for him.

Eddie on his second stint on the cheap was totally acceptable.

Eddie's defense was consistently solid, although his offense wasn't. But if you want to describe him as a "beta" surely you wouldn't spare Mashburn from a similar characterization.

Absolutely! Mashburn was very Beta and afraid to take shots, hence passing to Clarance Weatherspoon at the buzzer

You're welcome LeBron.

Clarance bricking not even anywhere remotely close to the basket was one of the worst moments of my life. No doubt.

Sedano truly representing Miami on the national level.

Dan does also, but this is nice. Dakich deserved to get called out for his nonsense.

Sedano is losing his mind. Spo is not a top 3 coach, look at his lineups and rotations!

If he’s worth a 1st round pick, trade him for that and then trade the pick and other picks for Beal

Says Dakich, who coached in NCAA for 10 years without making tourney once. And who has been cast off to call summer league games.

Yea. He’s the right guy to listen to

Fiorentino takes himself way too seriously and he's a bad arguer.

Wrong guy to defend the squad.

Sorry. I wasn't referring specifically to yours, dean456. It was just my general (somewhat sleepy) reaction after reading several pages of comments.

I generally agree with you, though I feel Giannis is a lot tougher get. Bucks have a great chance to win everything now, and, frankly, they better pull it off. I can't see the Greek Freak being patient for very long.

I read it differently. Kakich is the ass here, clearly. WTF has Brad Stevens won?

Looks like Yante Maten will be battling for his spot on the roster vs the field of remaining free agents.

Still remember during our first summer league game in Vegas, Dakich laughing that Tre Mourning was on the Heat summer league team, reading off his college stats and pretty much saying he only was on the team was because of nepotism. True or not, just a messed up thing to say.

If we're being honest, all Heat media have the same talking points and narrative. You'll be hard-pressed to find one of them who has ever had a critical thing to say about Spo, despite plenty of material to work with.
