Beal will be 27 next season and looking forward to moving somewhere competitive. Miami seems a good place, and we'll be better financially.
At the trade deadline we have Dragic + Meyers Leonard as expirings in 2020. Olynyk, Waiters, and James Johnson will all be expirings in 2021. We have a 2020 draft pick we can offer to Washington on draft night too. Right now it's tough to trade for Beal, but Washington won't look as good at the trade deadline if they aren't in playoff contention. They'll have the same choice every team faces with free agency. Get something for him now or wait for him to walk in 2021.
All we need to do is (1) win games (2) show improvements with our youth and (3) not purchase a big fat contract like Chris Paul's. If we don't do something stupid, we can reel him in.
If you are referring to my comment Gom I was more so referring to Giannis part of that comment being the pipe dream people seem to think on here. I agree I think it's more than likely that Beal will be available in 2021 or before that. As far as Giannis goes I'm just not confident Milwaukee are going to be able to keep him there. He might be a super loyal guy or prefer the supermax money and stay there but I just have never seen Milwaukee retain a big named player for the duration of their career, so I'm not confident that he will decide to stay especially with their team locked into a lesser version of their team last year beyond 2021.
