Give me George and 4 average defenders and I’ll have a much better playoff defense than your Gobert team

If basketball had a goalie, I would agree but it’s too much scoring in this era for a rim protector to lead a team...
It’s a great part of a winning team but you need an elite go to scorer to win

You also need elite defenders.
Toronto had a ton of elite defenders, Golden State had Draymond, Houston had one of the best defenses when healthy and Milwaukee had Giannis/Lopez.
At a certain point the "elite scorers" will be off the table. For example, can a team win with Paul George as the best offensive player? What about Bradley Beal or Jimmy Butler?

If scoring more important because it's easier, or is defense more important because it's harder?

It’s harder to stop the best scorers....than it is to score on the best defenders...
They’re less than a handful of lockdown players that can contain anyone vs go to scorers that can score on anyone

It's the same question. Is it more important because it's easier, or more important because it's harder?
IMO, nothing is more important because it's easier or harder. Right now teams score about 1.1 PPP. If they were scoring 1.5 PPP (or 0.5), it'd still have the same importance.
Also, it's a 5v5 game, more than ever. Talking about how one player goes against another single is completely outdated and doesn't reflect the reality of how the game is played in the slightest.

Exactly....
Curry, giannas, etc...changes an entire defense...
Gobert doesn’t change entire offenses...
