My guess is he is waiting to see if Morey uses him in an S&T as salary ballast. He could make a lot more money that way than he's likely to get offered in a straight signing.

Shump has to have a handshake deal with Morey - they have an agreed to deal to stay there worst case, but he's agreed to be ballast if needed for a higher salary. Shump is straight up mercenary - but doing it this way could see him get double his open market value.

Someone mentioned a few weeks back that he was seen with his family at a museum in Phoenix. I dont see any reason for either him being signed by the Suns or him being at a museum, both seem odd.

I think he's waiting because he could get a deal worth 10+ as salary ballast and if not he can sign a min deal somewhere. I think the chance at 10+ is worth it for him to wait. And I'd be surprised if Morey doesn't do something like that after going all in for Russ.

What's odd about a guy taking his family to a museum? Unless it was some sort of museum inappropriate for kids. I feel like I'm missing something from your post perhaps?

Was it possible to have fit him into the trade?

I'm not sure with the sequencing of the Clippers' signings. But obviously would've been preferable to me.

I'm hoping he gave back something in the buyout but I'm not hopeful it's significant enough to matter for getting under the tax.

I didnt explain myself well enough I guess. I have lived in Az all my life and dont see our museums or sight seeing things as a draw for anyone to come from out of town to specifically see them unless you already have business here already. If this was a museum in La, Ny, Philly I could see it. Just thinking along the lines of who goes to Phoenix to visit our museum. I'm really saying we are not interesting, not saying he is weird for visiting a museum.

Thanks. figured it had to be something like that. I feel much the same way about Dallas. I don't get the appeal of our city as a tourist spot either. I mean when the major draw is a President was killed her its both a bit morbid and reflective of how dull our city is. Fort Worth at least has the Kimball which is a pretty cool museum. And of course for kids we now have the Perot which is awesome for them.

Now if you heard he was there golfing, that definitely makes sense in Phoenix right? You guys have tons of great courses I hear.

I still don't understand why Justin Anderson is not signed yet... that dude is a strong defender and still developing only 25 years old... he had great values in Dallas

Didn't want to dig to find this thread, but yeah, big win for OKC there. Didn't have to give up assets and got under the tax. 700k under now but with two open roster spots still.

I remember the rumor that they wanted him back for another year a couple of months ago, I was skeptical, but guess it was true.

Max offer made to Kemba by Charlotte was 5/160. He was eligible for 5/220. Sheesh.
