Money wise is just not worth it.
I don't get this take at all. I think we need to flush out this line of thought, since this is a common take among many around the league. Can you please explain why you think this is so?
1. It didn't really hurt their cap space at all and still can have up to $32 mil in cap space available in the next 2 off-seasons.
2. They got a top 15 PG, who is the 16th highest paid PG in the league.
3. The Suns were probably going to have to overpay for any PG this past summer, no matter who it was.
4. The Suns needed a pass first pg more than almost anything and Ricky is one of the best in the league.
5. They also needed a vet that can play defense and is a decent rebounder.
6. Rubio does a lot of things that don't show up in the stat line, but help a team win.
7. Suns had the WORST PG rotation in NBA league history last year to start the season (Canaan, Melton, Okobo). Let that sink in for a second.
8. Rubio has shown that he helps bigs and swings have their best seasons of their careers, or help them immensely when they are starting out. (ie. Wiggins, Pekovic, Towns, Gobert, Mitchell) I'm curious what he does with Booker, Ayton, Bridges, Oubre, Johnson, and Saric.
