Give him $300 million even! and a key to the city! and His own private Island in Hawaii! SMH. The amount of homerism on this board is approaching ridiculous levels. Lets wait AFTER this year to see if this guy can actually become a #1 option and make the All-Star team. Last year he was great for sure but lets not forget that he was playing beside a top 3 player in the world attracting double and triple teams on every possession. I need to see him repeat last years numbers AS A #1 OPTION before i crown him the King of Toronto.
Unbelievable how these guys are thinking here.
Look, unless Siakam's camp is willing to give us a discount, it makes absolutely no sense for us to max him now.
1. He could play next year and get seriously injured.
2. He might not perform the same as a Number 1 option.
So why outbid ourselves when we have his rights anyway? Let him go on the court and prove that he's a max guy. If he is, then I'd be happy to pay. Other teams will offer the max and we can simply match and keep him and if he's not the real deal, we can pay him what he's actually worth.
All y'all on here clamouring for a max deal right now are the same one's that didn't like how Colangelo used to do business. I don't understand it.
Anyways, I think Siakam is definitely a stud but I'm not sold on him being a James/Harden/Curry/Leonard type star so I'm not going to pay him like that. If he turns out to be that however, I'd be more than happy to pay that man.
