Seriously? Is it just a Southeastern WIthing? Can't be.

It's definitely a SE WI thing, as most of the people I meet who rave about Kringles focus on those you can get in Racine. You can get them elsewhere, too - Lane's Bakery on the South Side of Madison is known for having good Kringles.

But I don't think they're anything special, tbh. They're not on my personal list of favorite desserts. I wouldn't push one away if it was offered, but it's not something I'd go out of my way to get.

There is definitely a huge dose of nostalgia but I also think they are a delicious pastry. I was so excited to see the Racine kringles being sold at Trader Joe's in the East Bay (near Oakland/Berkeley) where I live that I grabbed a few and brought them to work. It's a taste of home from childhood. Helps me remember all those terrible Bucks, Brewers, and Packer teams I grew up with in the 80s.

Kringle is like that guy you never think to invite anywhere, but when you happen to be hanging out together you're like "dude you're a riot, we should hang out more."

This thing is the devil. I ate it in Instanbul, next day I made everybody walk 3km to have it again, and I kept breaking their balls to go every day after. Slightly different than the one on your video, the Turkish version is goat cheese wrapped in fried thin pastry strands, dipped in hot syrup, and served with buffalo milk cream (about twice the fat content of normal milk)

never mind all the other stuff I ate in Turkey, I reckon if I stayed there a month they'd take me home on a wheelbarrow

Errol Spence Juuuuuuniooooor stepping into the ring for a unification bout at 147 on Saturday night against Shawn Porter. Easily my most anticipated fight of the year, but I am shameless in my ESJ stannery. I predict him in a walk though you don't have to squint too hard to see Porter making it a hard row. Porter is a brute and is very much an activity fighter, doesn't throw a lot of clean shots but has gotten a strap through a combination of superior conditioning and high work rate. Only fear - and it's a legit one - is that with two guys who excel fighting inside, a headbutt-related cut could unduly influence the outcome. ESJ in 10 on a stoppage between rounds is my guess.

Co-head is David Benavidez squaring off against Anthony Dirrell for Dirrell's belt at 168. I love Benavidez. He's such an anomaly as a Hispanic fighter - I think he's like 6'3" and isn't the traditional body-destroyer who takes two shots to deliver one - and has devastating power. I'm guessing he'll take care of a game Dirrell.

All I want is for this night to result in Crawford-Spence Jr becoming one step closer to reality. That's the best fight that can made in the entire sport at this point there I said it.

ALso from Racine and OandH quality has declined with the mass production they have started. Give me a Bendtsens.

And the correct ranking is indeed
1. Pecan
2. Almond
3. Who cares

My parents keep getting fruit filled kringles and I have no idea why.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

It's called osmanli macunu, it's an ancient street food from the ottoman empire, basically various flavours of soft toffee paste wrapped around a stick and served with a couple of drops of lemon. Delicious.
