Honestly the best result may be waive of Dion with no stretch. Get some portion of buyout in the deal. Use the small amount available to sign another player to a small contract.

Just the lack of trade asset in his last year would give me pause on that.

Waiters contract will look more palatable closer to the trade deadline and even better at the end of the season/during the draft. I still think we need to work this out somehow and keep him as an asset and not be forced to make a move for the sake of it. We either get another asset in a similar deal, a pick (unlikely) or an expiring contract before I consider moving him.

Just tell him to go sit his ass at home. If we find a trade that works, we'll call him. If not he can eat his weight in cheese popcorn until it makes sense to buy him out.

Would love to take a flyer on Josh Jackson, can we channel his inner thuggery into a serviceable player in our system, he’s a tall, dark, athletic wing.

Would love to see Jimmy take him under his wing .

Another player I wouldn’t mind the Heat to try to acquire, and I never thought I’d be saying this but, Demar DeRozan.

In times past DD would not have fit on our past rosters, but for this squad he fits perfectly.

A wing that can give you 25 a night and get to the line 7-9 times per game.

Him and Jimmy on the wing gives you great length both being about 6’7-6’8

He’s the kind of low cost reclamation project we’ve historically had success on, but not sure if JJ is salvageable at this point. I wouldn’t hate it though.

As for DeRozan, I’m not sure him and Butler are that great a combo. They’re similar in some respects, and neither space the floor enough for the other. They are talented though, and elite at the midrange and FT.

You want to trade Waiters to Detroit for everything they have of value?
