Honestly the best result may be waive of Dion with no stretch. Get some portion of buyout in the deal. Use the small amount available to sign another player to a small contract.
Just the lack of trade asset in his last year would give me pause on that.
Waiters contract will look more palatable closer to the trade deadline and even better at the end of the season/during the draft. I still think we need to work this out somehow and keep him as an asset and not be forced to make a move for the sake of it. We either get another asset in a similar deal, a pick (unlikely) or an expiring contract before I consider moving him.
Just tell him to go sit his ass at home. If we find a trade that works, we'll call him. If not he can eat his weight in cheese popcorn until it makes sense to buy him out.
