How is he against Embiid?
That's what Boston really needs..a big dude to match Embiid. Everybody else can be beaten by guards and wings.
Just looking at the rosters around the league, the big man market is pathetic. Guys like Biyombo, Mahinmi, Dieng. Cody Zeller are all getting 15-17 mil..the slightly better ones like Ibaka, Gasol are all over 23 mil. It's wild.
We really should have given Dwight an opportunity. Not sure what the point of Poirier was if he can't get off the bench.
Maybe in a few months something like Capela for Theis, Langford, Semi and J.Green would interest the Rockets.
We can always wait as see if Embiid can stay healthy. If he were to get hurt for the season again, we could probably get way without adding another big.
Embiid will get his, but it would be nice to someone who can at least mitigate him a little.
In the playoffs when teams start playing downhill and a little more physical, it will be a bigger problem.
Celtics don’t need a star big man, just some respectable post defenders. WCS makes like 2 million as does Kyle O’quinn, Robin Lopez didn’t get much more. You would think we could have overpaid a little and got 2 of them maybe. Seems like you are going to “overpay” for a center but if you want a shot at the finals that’s just what you may have to do. Paying Kanter and Theis 5 each, and neither of them seem like an option for playoff defense at center. Kanter is a career negative in defensive +\- and Theis is just to small.
