I think they wanted Bryant to take more 3's this season, but that hasn't worked out well. Comments that Brooks has made indicate they want him to cut down on the 3's and have his shot distribution pretty much like last seasons. My thinking is - that'll help in the short run - but maybe not in the long run.

Unfortunately, the 5th guy has been Isaiah Thomas for the most part (27 minutes), and during those minutes, the group's point differential was -37 per 100 possessions. In the 6 minutes that the 5th guy was Ish, the unit was -2 points per 100 possessions. Those sample sizes are meaningless, though.

Wagner is a good example of what Bryant should be doing. Wagner's 3's never appear to be contested. If he's open, he'll launch it without hesitation, but he doesn't rush it when he's not quite open.

Oddly, Beal actually shoots them better when he's contested. It's the open 3's that vex him.
