I think they wanted Bryant to take more 3's this season, but that hasn't worked out well. Comments that Brooks has made indicate they want him to cut down on the 3's and have his shot distribution pretty much like last seasons. My thinking is - that'll help in the short run - but maybe not in the long run.

Well. This rotation just makes too much sense.

Ergo. Brooks won’t do it.

On NBA.com stats I can't find that Beal, Rui, Bryant, and Brown Jr. have played one minute together. I don't care who the fifth one is, I'd like to see those 4 play together.

NBA.com must update their numbers slowly (and therefore only have the games from before Brown came back from injury).

According to basketballreference, that Beal, Rui, Bryant, Brown lineup is the most common 4-man grouping of players involving Brown:

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/browntr01/lineups/2020

Unfortunately, the 5th guy has been Isaiah Thomas for the most part (27 minutes), and during those minutes, the group's point differential was -37 per 100 possessions. In the 6 minutes that the 5th guy was Ish, the unit was -2 points per 100 possessions. Those sample sizes are meaningless, though.

Thanks for the link! Those 4 need a penetration stopper with them, which we don't have one the roster.

Right! They are sending mixed signals. This is when management development objectives might not necessarily mesh with win now objectives of the head coach.

This season, I feel like Bryant is rushing his 3's in an effort to launch a lot more of them. I think it's fine if Bryant shoots the 3, if he has time to get square.

Wagner is a good example of what Bryant should be doing. Wagner's 3's never appear to be contested. If he's open, he'll launch it without hesitation, but he doesn't rush it when he's not quite open.

I think Bryant's watching his buddy Beal when he should watch Wagner.

Oddly, Beal actually shoots them better when he's contested. It's the open 3's that vex him.

He is currently shooting 28.6% when a defender is 2-4 feet away, 30.6% when a defender is 4-6 feet away, and inexplicably, 28.0% when a defender is 6 or more feet away.

Same story as last year.
