Just to clarify something. We only get the pick this year if it drops below 6? I'm always confused with protections. Or is it the other way around. Ie top 6 protection suggests we only get it if its top 6.

7-30, it's ours this June.
1-6, it rolls over unprotected next 2021 draft.

Just consider the term protection...they traded us the pick, but added protection in case the pick is too good. The reverse protection from the Tatum trade was a weird situation.

Yes makes sense.
So we probably get a 7 to 10 this year package that with additional picks and someone like romeo to go top 3 or potentially package it with expiring if we think Tatum brown and Kemba is the core and an additional all star moves the needle. Either way not a bad situation for us and some flexibility.

Wizareds, Knicks, Warriors and Pelicans are all trash.
Sacramento is dropping like a stone.
Thunder I can see crapping out with a trade
far from a given, 10 games in.

Plus teams jumping in the lottery, it can bite us or be good for us.
I don't have much intel on the draft prospects of this or next year so I'm not really sure what I'd like to happen. I tend to go for a 7-10 pick NOW as my preference. Because who knows what happens next year (the Sacramento curse) + because we can instantly add someone to our current core who I feel is closer than we thought we would be (ok still early in the season).
The above counts if we are going to add someone to our roster with the pick. But maybe it's for trade purposes, who knows?
Has the Bucks pick any protections on it? Do we have another pick in the near future besides our own?

Bucks pick 1-7 protected.
Maybe wiseman drops to 8...and we pick there. lol
I think we leave the 2020 draft with Vernon Carey Jr and/or basey.

If Wiseman falls to 8, there better be at least 7 HOF players in this draft.

not a newsflash but MEM is certainly aware of the protection on the pick and is going to try to be really bad this year (they already rested Ja Morant!) and try to be much better next year. Lots of annoying scrappy vets getting signed by them next summer.
I believe in miracles but won't be upset if it lands at 7 this year.

I agree - can't forget what happened with the Sac pick.

Based off the first week I hope to god the pick transfers to next season. Wiseman, Anthony, and Edwards all look great but then there looks to be a huge drop. I was really hopeful Stewart or Bassey would look good but at this moment if the pick transfers you prob grab one of those touted overseas kids and hope for the best. Though all have been underwhelming too.

Yeah, bigs could emerge in 2021. Or just as effective, a very top pick in 2021 could likely be traded for a top level big man.
Yeah, early look is Maker and Mobley as the top bigs but it’s a long way out. I think they are likely using this pick. Not much out there for trades at the moment unless something crazy happens
21 does look deeper but it's a wing deep draft. Though I have high hopes for Mobley, he abused Wisemann in their head to head matchup last year when Mobley was a junior. C's haven't been to fortunate landing a high pick in a bigman draft.

I don't even care about which players look great, but I just want it to transfer so that they spread the extra picks out across multiple years.

Disagree it's going to land around 8-10 after other teams activate tank mode.

They'd need to finish bottom 2 to be sure of that. If they finish 3rd last (for example), the lottery could drop them out of top 6.
Bad or not, there's no guarantees.
