Aka still operating in the shadows and being the typical snake he is. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Allan Houston take the Mills role, though. Dolan loves him but he seems like a colossal waste of space. Haven’t heard this dude ever being considered for any front office position anywhere else but he successfully leeches on to Dolan and acts as another one of his lackeys. Probably will see a new 10 year run with Houston as President after Mills. And then Dolan will try to convince everyone that everything is different now.
I mean ... It's fine for me to be, in every post, "get Hinkie, let him run the FO, get Messina as coach and Stackhouse as vice-coach". And I do believe that would be a correct (ok, so I paused as I typed over correct x very good, but let me do me) strategy.
However, if you are the owner I think it is almost impossible to say. meh, all in on 00. You would surely want to have some control over what is going on ... and that means decent, preferably accurate, information.
So ... whilst I think the/an ideal thing would be do .. in this case Hinkie/Messina to the wall ... but if you are reading this then substitute your favourite plan .. JVG + PreacherrMark .. or w/e ... that's probably simply not realistic. The owner has to have someone somewhere on the inside who he trusts. Whether that person is objectively trustworthy (cf Mills) or not, is a different question.
