I think Kawhi is probably the best player in the NBA when the chips are down but he's definitely a Ferrari that spends his time tuning up and then gets cranked out for a very specific race. He's good in the regular season but isn't likely going to be the MVP. Harden is currently averaging an efficient 38/6/8 while Giannis is averaging an efficient 30/14/7. Both those guys have generally been pretty durable, too, and are playing for teams that are going to win 50+ games. Unless someone makes a massive jump, those are really the only two choices. Kawhi doesn't care about the regular season enough to challenge those kinds of performances. There's a certain parallel to Shaq that way.
