Who cares? Boylen is doing more harm than good on EVERYONE (biggest example is Lauri).
Arguing Zach vs Boylen is really pointless. Boylen is bringing everyone down. He's not the guy. I'd give Zach a massive high five if he could complain enough to get Boylen fired. That alone would be an insane level of value that he brought to the team.
I look at it the opposite way.
Boylen's not a good coach. I'm not going to shed a tear when he is fired. But he isn't the problem.
As of this minute, Lavine's on/off:
On the court, 515 minutes, -8.9 per 100 differential
Off the court, 253 minutes, +7.2 per 100 differential
I don't think I have ever seen anything like that. A team's best player being its absolute worst. Just to put some data points to show how mind blowing that is, the Warriors had the second best net rating in the NBA last year at +6.4. They won 57 games. The Bulls as a team won 24 games last year with a net rating of -8.4. Effectively, Zach stepping on the floor turns the Bulls from playing like a 60 win team to a 20 win team.
I would love to see Lauri's numbers without Lavine. Same with Wendell. I suspect they are through the roof.
If Boylen was really bringing everyone down like you say, how are they playing so well when Lavine is on the bench? Boylen can stay or go, I don't care. The issue with the team is looking more and more like its Lavine. Boylen went after him personally. Its about time.
Is Boylen not responsible for going to Zach hero ball every 4th quarter? Is losing not getting to this team? Is Lauri not in complete shambles right now? Should Gafford have been glued to the bench? Sato is playing like poopie, guess Boylen takes no responsibility for that? Whys isn't our best 3 point shooter (Valentine) playing when we can't hit 3's?
Your defense is much like the GOP's defense of Trump. Its riddled with miopic talking points to state how poorly Zach is playing. I'm not arguing he's playing well, nobody is. I'm arguing Boylen is a bigger issue.
Getting rid of Zach could arguably improve us, but getting rid of Boylen will improve us more. He's the bigger problem, now and long term. The only bigger problem is GarPax. Do you have a stat for that? What is GarPax's on/off?
Lol at the Trump reference. Put down the coffee dude. I might as well go full on Godwin's law. You attacks on Boylen are like Hitler's attacks on the Jews, blaming them for everything in an attempt to find a scapegoat to further an agenda. Genocide is just around the corner!!!
Now that we have the ridiculous hyperbole and misplaced political metaphors out of the way, let's talk basketball.
I said this:
Boylen's not a good coach. I'm not going to shed a tear when he is fired.
How exactly is that a defense of Boylen? It isn't. I'm just pointing out that when Lavine is on the bench, the Bulls aren't playing bad. That means that:
- Lavine is the biggest problem
- Boylen isn't having the across the board negative effect you are stating
Its riddled with miopic talking points to state how poorly Zach is playing. I'm not arguing he's playing well, nobody is. I'm arguing Boylen is a bigger issue.
And my point is that Zach is playing much, much worse than you are indicating. His on/off numbers are ridiculously bad. His off court numbers indicate that the team isn't that bad when he isn't influencing it.
The only bigger problem is GarPax. Do you have a stat for that? What is GarPax's on/off?
This is where we likely agree. And yes, I can show a lot of stats that paint GarPax in a pretty negative light. Overall, this is their responsibility. Its their coach, their players, etc.
