The guy struggled last season, but was not only an All-Star the year before, but received not only Cy Young votes, but MVP votes as well (none for 1st place, but still). Perhaps a Betances replacement?

Keep an eye on Kyle Holder to replace Didi at shortstop. Best defensive infielder in the organization, lefty and can spray the ball around. Reminds me of an infield Gardner.
Chris Gittens is another guy to watch if the Yankees don't find a clear answer at First Base. Coming off an MVP year in AA with a lot of power.

Some of the smaller teams are striking medium deals. Abreu, D'Arnaud, Moustakas.
The big guns will take a while though...hopefully that's a sign that the Yankees are not resting on their laurels. Not that we had any to rest on, but yea...

They don't want to lose upcoming picks which will only hinder our farm system. Can't argue with that, they have to be picky in who they offer a contract over 6 years to.

Draft picks are years down the line if they get through the minors, no matter how good they are at the moment. The team is trying to contend now. Draft pick compensation should not be the reason why Hal/Cashman don't wanna offer long term contracts to pitchers.

The Cashman/Hal quote of trying to win "championships, and not a championship" is based on this ideology.
Which is why the Stanton trade is such a head scratcher right now.
