1) I'm ecstatic they are 11-3 and back in the playoffs
2) I don't like that they had a 21 - 3 lead and nearly gave it up by getting super conservative on offense

Both of these things can be true.

Also, if you make a bad decision and the decision does not burn you that does not make it a good decision.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

They seem (to me) to lose focus and intensity when they are up by a couple of scores. Their control over the field seems to waver too often. Do they need a more ruthless killer instinct?

Well, on the plus side to state the obvious, Tyler Ervin has been just the returner the team has needed for a long while.

Yeah, idk. I feel like the offense is more just generally dysfunctional, or semi-functional actually, than it is lack of killer instinct.
Trying to think of a game that would evince your theory (where the offense “woke up” and then started functioning after we lost a lead) but I cant recall. KC? Idk.

Maybe it's the reverse? The Pack offense often starts well, then fades. Is that focus, or better in-game adjustments by the opponents?

Their offense definitely seemed to go into clock mode, where Rodgers also begins to limit his field of vision to uninterceptable sideline throws or taking sacks.

Works against bad teams.

I don't really give a **** how they win games. Style points and point differential don't matter in the NFL. It'd be one thing if this team fluked its way into a bunch of victories on defensive TD's and 4th quarter comebacks, but they've consistently built up big leads in all but 2 of their 11 wins. As much as this team has its flaws, they've been consistently very good.

Yea thats a good idea. Throw an INT.....

On 4th down when you are going to lose the ball anyway?

Yes, an INT is actually preferred. Barring a big return, they get the ball at around the spot of the INT instead of at the line of scrimmage.
I miss read your post. Looking back it makes no sense because Rodgers would've thrown a hail marry TD.

Should I point out that if they had gone even more conservative on their drive after the interception and went run, run, run they would have been better off?

Now what I'm about to say I say independent of today's game. People like to get annoyed when a team runs 3 times to make the other team burn its TOs but some times that's 100% the right call alot of times. People like to freak out when a team marches down the field a couple of times when trailing against a soft zone but yes that is normally the smart play. These strategies may not make the final score look pretty (and yes sometimes it comes back to bite you in the ass) but when playing with a big lead they more often then not lead to a victory as the best chance for a team to actually come back is if you hand them easy quick points.

In the NFL it's as much about not beating yourself as beating the other team and when the clock is on your side you play the percentages.

Now back onto today's game yes I wouldve liked them to step in their throat. But at the same time I'm not going to get on MLF case for not being aggressive with a big lead and getting shut down against a top flight defense which is one that thrives off of TOs and sacks with the clock on the Packers side.

It's fine to go conservative when the situation warrants it. Midway through the third quarter with Trubisky starting to capture some momentum is not the right time, especially when they were on their heels defensively. In today's NFL, comebacks happen quickly if you start to settle for 3 and outs, and doing the run, run, pass drive basically guarantees that with Rodgers. He's become pretty bad at 3rd and long protecting a late lead (and I don't know if he was ever that good before).

The tempo of the 3rd quarter should've continued into the 4th. They turn down too early and have to rely on a defensive stand to close. We are fortunate it hasn't bitten us, but we also have had the luxury of facing an easy schedule.

As a Vikings fan, it pains me to share this. But it's too good not to.

Just to pile on heres a friendly reminder that the Bears traded up for Trubisky because they didnt want to risk another team being dumber then them and trading up ahead of them and thus then being "stuck" with Mahomes or Watson

I get annoyed when a team goes run, run, pass on three consecutive series one of which started in the third quarter I believe. The Bears were all jacked up for the run. I think a play-action pass would have been perfect on one of those first downs.
