Disrespectful Piston fans treat him like absolute garbage and he is still saying how much he loves DET and wants to stay here in the post game right now. I would have no problem keeping him around for 20-25mil/year.
He is absolutely not worth over 20 per, plain and simple. We can win a title with Andre, but it HAS to be at a smaller cap hold.
If he agrees, I'm all in.
It is going to be hard to replace his production with anyone, but his shortcomings are notable. 20 million per, and hes set for life anyway, and will be adored by fans for taking a "pay cut".
Then you build, and do it right this time. The rook looks great, and we know what Kennard can do. This team, without question needs a PG. Try and ship Blake, and something to GS for Russell.
Well there is no way he is taking that big of a pay cut. What is happening with Drummond is that since he isn't a go-to scorer he is greatly devalued. If we had a healthy Griffin and another equally great perimeter player with Drummond as the 3rd guy doing all the dirty work at 20mil per year I think that set up is definitely capable of winning a championship. For example, put Drummond with Doncic and KP and that is a championship trio who just needs to fine tune the rest of the roster. Drummond at 35mil is a dealbreaker. Drummond at 20-15mil is a steal.
He’s getting devalued because all he really is, is an elite garbage man. Being elite in that area while being a center is actually tricky to build a team around because he needs specific players that are good at multiple things to support his deficiencies at many positions around him as we’ve seen in the last 7 or so years. What’s funny is there’s going to be desperate teams that see his young age and certain stats he produces and will gladly pay up for his services
He was just born in an era where perimeter play is greatly valued while having the skills that worked in the 80s.
