That being said brown can’t be traded this year and with our salary construction it makes any real trade hard as we would have to lose a player of importance and quite frankly I don’t see anyone available this year that would jump us into the tier 1 team level.
Enjoy the ride, let Tatum turn into the star he is- Hope brown does or at least maintains this level of play and then next summer we trade him for someone who can elevate this team to a real contender. This team is a joy to watch and I love them but baring injuries to 3-4 teams above us we aren’t winning anything this year
I disagree. I think this team can absolutely win the title. I could be wrong, but based on your post it seems like you are still not a complete believer in JB/JT in terms of them being ready for a title. so you're basing this teams upside on how far Kemba/Hayward can carry this team. Is that fair of me to say? I am on the other end. I see JB/JT and I cannot find a better wing duo not named Kawhi & PG. JB/JT are 2 of the best players on the floor MOST games. and they are 2-way players. Then you add in Kemba/Hayward. This team can go as far as they believe they can go. If the teams mindset is "we can win the title this year", then they are absolutely capable of it. When I see this group play I see a team that is rapidly getting better and better. Even on off nights on the road they are taking care of business. A star down, they are taking care of business. There's been very few lapses thus far on the season. 25-8 and they haven't even had their core healthy together for the majority of those 33 games.
This team is better 1-5 VS Milwaukee & Philly and everyone else in the East.
Bucks VS Celtics
Kemba > Bledsoe
JB > Matthews
Tatum > Middleton
Hayward < Giannis
Theis < Brook
Smart/Kanter > Hill/RLopez.
Bucks have better spacing. Celtics have better star power 1-4.
That is a 7-game series.
Philly is self imploding. as of right now they would face Bucks in the 2nd round. I agree that from a match-up perspective they aren't a good match-up for Boston RIGHT NOW. but I think come playoffs Boston will be much better.
“This team can go as far as they believe they can go” sounds great in a Disney film but not in real life. As far as me not being a complete believer in JT or JB- that’s partially correct, as I’ve made it known that I’m not as high as JB as most here although I’m hoping to be proven wrong. As far as JT I do think he has superstar potential written all over him - but no I don’t think he’s ready THIS season to carry or lead us to the the championship . In his career ? Sure but not this year.
I’m sure this team has a mindset “we can win the title this year” they should, they are competitors and I applaud and want my team to have that mentality. Hoping, wishing and wanting do not make it a reality though. This team does not have a kawhi, Lebron, ad, Giannis etc on it, let alone the depth of a champion. Nor does he have a player who can consistently stop a Giannis or kawhi fully healthy in the playoffs. The players we hope will eventually reach that perennials all star or super star level - are currently too young.
This team is at most an ECF team if they get the right seeding and avoid playing both the bucks and philly. If somehow they made the finals it would be over in 5 against the clippers or lakers. It’s a very easy team to root and cheer for. I enjoy watching them. It’s night and day from last year but it’s not a championship team yet and may never be unless JB takes another huge leap, along with the expected leap Tatum takes next year or JB is traded for another legit top 10 player.
You can repeat any cliche or “it’s not the size of the dog In the fight but the size of the fight in the dog” mantra you want but it's not changing that fact.
