Ive seen people complain that it doesnt makes sense how any girl would hit that maybe I'm the only one that doesnt understand that complaint.

Do people think the most powerful dark lord of the Sith that the universe has ever known and evil incarnate is somehow above going bare back on a hooker or that he cares about consent? Or hell that looks even matter for the most powerful man in the galaxy to get laid?

Or are those possibilities just being overlooked because its Disney?

Should have been more development of the conflict in each of Ren and Rey between the sides of the force to leave you wondering what side each was really on. But... you know... space Vegas.

In the end, Abrams wanted to tell a story that was a more expensive, less fun Total reboot of the original trilogy which Was never going to be too interesting to me. Maybe Johnson was just trying to stop it, and change course at the 11th hour. But whatever.

TBH I didn't pick up the show until season 2 so I'm not sure how different it was at the start.

My wife has watched it through twice and I've caught bits and pieces. I've never really thought it was worth my time. But the daughter is hot.

Season 2 dropped in August 2018, I need to rewatch season 2. But I always say I'm going to rewatch the last season of a show before the new season starts and I never do.

I think even really good comedies take a season and a half to really find the characterization and pace. Parks and Rec for example and Seinfeld are both almost unrecognizable between seasons 1 and 3. But I also think you should see glimpses of greatness in the first few episodes, and Im in your boat. I heard real good things (Schitts Creek), sat through 3-4 episodes, and just didn’t find a single joke or character or scene original.

Seems like the show is a big hit or big miss w/ people b/c I'm in the same boat. A lot of the humor wasn't landing. But ik several people who love it.

Also, I'd say PnR found it's rhythm by S2. S1 is so different though that it's almost like a completely new show.

Joker is pretty incredible. If they sweep the big Oscars categories, I could appreciate that. Although it's all conditioned on me seeing 1917 and the Lighthouse, two movies I'm super amped for.

A couple things. For one, The King has a noticeably better score imo and I hope that's recognized. Second, about two plot points, one major and one not-so-much:

They committed to these and it failed to fully resonate with me: (1) Arthur potentially being Thomas Wayne's son, and (2) Bruce's parents being killed during a Joker-inspired riot. These weren't executed poorly on-screen or anything, but it narrows the scope for both characters imo. The Joker is driven by the abandonment of his billionaire father(?), and he's also now directly traceable as a root of Bruce's trauma.

This is just one iteration though so I'll take it in-stride and appreciate the art. On the flip side, I love how they touched on the Joker as a symbol for the underclass, much like Batman strives to be for the good people in Gotham.

Any time the film tries to remind us that it's all part of the larger Batman universe feels hamfisted and off to me. And making him so pathetic, it's hard to imagine this dude ever being the supervillain that we think of as the Joker. Also,

the moment we learn That his relationship with Sophie was all imaginary is awful. It should be immediately clear to anyone paying attention what was going on with just her single line of dialogue. Instead we have to have our hands held and shown multiple flashbacks to make sure we all get it.

Good performance and score, though.
