The thing to consider is that while he may be worth $Xm per year, there's also only so much money this off season so his options and salary level may be limited by that. I think $20m a year sounds alright but I want to see how we go down the stretch too.

Yeah, Been concerned about this for awhile now. As he's an unrestricted free agent in 2021, This really has the potential to be a " double edged sword " for us. I mean his increased production and performance is obviously endearing him to us a a potentially important core piece to consider retaining. And I've been asking this for awhile now, But at what amount do we cut him off price wise, considering that in 2021, There'll be quite a few teams with cap to spend. I really think that regardless of his improvement, Around 18-20 million has to be our absolute limit. But IF we do lose him in free agency, Who then fills that new roster hole?

- Is Bridges ready to start?
- Is there another equal or better option to be his replacement? ( Jerami Grant at 12-15)? Maybe (McDermott at 7 million)? Or perhaps even start Bridges, and then bring in someone like a James Ennis ( 6'7 athletic wing) who's a good perimeter defender and a career 36% 3 pt shooter. He's currently making around 2 million dollars. So he could be had on the cheap. Ideally, We can resign Oubre for around 18 - 20. Let Saric and Kaminsky walk, and perhaps replace Baynes with either Zubac or Thiess for around 5 million. But who really knows how things will play out by 2021?

He will be an UFA in 2021, but we can avoid that situation extending him this next summer.

We can probably offer him $45M for 2 years... plus next season ( $15M already guaranteed).
That would mean a contract of $60M/3 years. (Seasons 2020/21, 21/22 and 22/23).

For some reason I thought he had a player option. I think he'd be open to extending this summer, especially since next season he's on just over $14m.

I'm kind of in the camp of, if there are no true star options which are likely to sign with us then I'm not too keen on losing the chemistry, player relation and Oubre's potential for a minor upgrade should there be one.

It's the same approach I have with the likes of Booker and Ayton. I'm fine with moving both or either if there's a true star option that we can get but I wouldn't move either for a minor upgrade, even if it is an upgrade.

I do hope Bridges gets the start and I'm more and more keen on seeing our closing line up (Rubio, Booker, Bridges, Oubre, Ayton) start but I'd certainly like to see Oubre off the bench too just to bolster that 2nd line up.

A glorified 2013-2014 Gerald Green? That's a pretty damn good player. Seems about right for Kelly's current play.

Somehow I don't think that's what SuperSunsFan had in mind though.

I don't think that takes into account how much more complete a player Oubre is compared to Green. No doubt Green lit it up but the guy is almost exclusively a dunker or 3PT shooter. He had no in-between game. Oubre rebounds, he defends, he can create his own shot and he can do the two things Green does well too.

I think you're undervaluing or underestimating what Oubre brings to the table aside from raw points on the board.

We have time to figure all that out.

Yeah, he's a better rebounder and gets more steals, but Green was the better 3 pt shooter.

Should've just signed him for 4 years 70+ million and been done with it. Now It's going to cost us more. We still have his bird rights though, so can offer more and longer, correct?

He wasn't worth it at the time. He didn't earn it until this season. Perfectly fine with the contract we gave him.
