The thing to consider is that while he may be worth $Xm per year, there's also only so much money this off season so his options and salary level may be limited by that. I think $20m a year sounds alright but I want to see how we go down the stretch too.
Yeah, Been concerned about this for awhile now. As he's an unrestricted free agent in 2021, This really has the potential to be a " double edged sword " for us. I mean his increased production and performance is obviously endearing him to us a a potentially important core piece to consider retaining. And I've been asking this for awhile now, But at what amount do we cut him off price wise, considering that in 2021, There'll be quite a few teams with cap to spend. I really think that regardless of his improvement, Around 18-20 million has to be our absolute limit. But IF we do lose him in free agency, Who then fills that new roster hole?
- Is Bridges ready to start?
- Is there another equal or better option to be his replacement? ( Jerami Grant at 12-15)? Maybe (McDermott at 7 million)? Or perhaps even start Bridges, and then bring in someone like a James Ennis ( 6'7 athletic wing) who's a good perimeter defender and a career 36% 3 pt shooter. He's currently making around 2 million dollars. So he could be had on the cheap. Ideally, We can resign Oubre for around 18 - 20. Let Saric and Kaminsky walk, and perhaps replace Baynes with either Zubac or Thiess for around 5 million. But who really knows how things will play out by 2021?
