Man those 76ers are really looking great with that full on rebuild extreme tanking that they did......
The 76ers are underachieving at the six seed and we are overachieving at the six seed.
The 76ers at the apex of their rebuild to win a championship have the same record as the rebuilding Thunder while playing in an awful conference.
It's lookin real nice for those Sixers!
the sixers hired an incompetent to run their franchise. if the thunder rebuilt properly and got into the same position the sixers were in a couple years ago it would be a rousing success, just like the sixers rebuild has been. also, ben simmons / joel embiid are in their age 23 and age 25 seasons respectively. so i'm not sure it's fit to describe this as their 'apex' just yet.
lastly, and obviously, the sixers struggles this season have no bearing on the thunder's current situation. weren't you spouting this sunshine party line last season too?
Old Man Game wrote:Precedent? C'mon, there's no such thing as a binding precedent in a front office. It's all case by case anyway. If no one was offering anything compelling there's no shame or downside to letting it go in this instance and just enjoying what it is for what it is. So what if they get swept in the first round. That's only 1 less game than they won in the playoffs last year and they got numerous first rounders in the exchange. That's a successful season so far as I see it.
the downside is a reduction of value on the thunder's own 2020 pick (and the chance the pick is lost entirely) as well as whatever they could have reasonably acquired by trading danilo gallinari for any return.
i'm not really too torn up about this. i kind of expected it, considering the sunshine coming from the thunder media which is the mouthpiece for the thunder organization. they are treating this season as a sort of palate cleanser and maybe that's worth something. but i'm wary of the thunder not committing to a rebuild in lieu of chasing waterfalls.
