People weren't as up in arms over it simply because there was time left, and Houston was up double digits. This Gobert goaltend would have tied a game with mere seconds left. There was enough time for the Jazz to get a good look to ice the game, but it's no guarantee they make it. Seems to me like it was a combination of the refs just wanting to end a chippy game, and Ariza going at one of them earlier just made the decision to turn a blind eye easier for them. The stakes were a lot higher here especially for an injured team fighting for the last spot in the playoffs. Feels like Houston fans ITT are just displaying their victim complex over Harden.

Years ago. It's not relevant now, I think at this point Dame would trade all future All-Star games just to sneak into the playoffs this year. If he doesn't make it in it's going to suck. The injury luck this year has been insane for the Blazers.
That isn't really an answer. Lillard complained one season, and wasn't put in it (I think he should have been, but whatever). So you think one of the all-star games Lillard made after that he didn't deserve the selection? I would love to hear the case for which all-star game after that complaint he didn't actually deserve and only got in because of the complaint. Was it his very next all-star selection? The one during the season that he led Portland to the 3rd seed on 26.9/4.5/6.6? I'm genuinely curious, because I think it is a ridiculous take that one of his last 3 all-star selections (the only ones post complaint) was because of his public complaint.

IIRC the Blazers record at the time he made that 2018 All Star game was seen as an underperformance. Yes by the end things worked out that he should have made it, but at the time he was one of the borderline guys. The top snub that year he made it in as a reserve was Paul George his first year on the Thunder (who was also a team who was seen as underperforming in late January). PG eventually got in when Boogie got injured I believe.
I remember many people saying Dame got the nod over PG cause Dame complained the prior year and that the Thunder didn’t deserve two all stars cause they were expected to be a top 2-3 seed and were something like 5th or 6th - but IIRC they still had more wins than Portland at the time.

Extremely stupid take. A missed call with a ton of time left isn't the same thing as one with 19 seconds left in the game.
A really lazy take by you, and a complete false equivalency.

I think you're recalling incorrectly. Blazer didn't struggle much in either 2017-18 or 2018-19. It was the 2016-17 season where they were bad until the Nurkic trade saved their season.

What do you expect from someone defending Harden... Lazy D all around.

You mean, give the Jazz the ball with 9 seconds to try and score to win the game? Really?

If they really told them it wasn't close fire the whole crew.
This is a ridiculous take, no one should lose their job because they make a single mistake in a GAME. If the referee had a history of poor performance, sure... but you don't ruin someone's career over one mistake, egregious or otherwise.
Do you reprimand them privately? Oh hell yes. Do you issue a public apology to the Blazers... most certainly. But firing someone over a single mistake like this does not solve the officiating problem.

Well see there was this playoff series between 2 teams in (noticed I said "in" not "from") California way back in May 2002............
