And oh yes, JD Drew still sucks.
It doesn't help when you have Hinske, Cora, and Drew in the lineup... but yah.

I refuse to watch another game until the next Yankees series and if they don't show some fight, I am getting off the bandwagon completely because this team won't do jack in the playoffs. Every card except home field advantage was with the Sox before this series and they get SWEPT? I am sick to my stomach to be a Red Sox fan right now. mahalo

- Yankees are coming off a 16-run loss to the Tigers.
- Red Sox coming off a day of relaxation and rest.
- Matsuzaka, Beckett, Schilling
- Pettitte, Clemens, Wang
- Red Sox bullpen is rested after completely dismantling the White Sox.
- David Ortiz has found his powerstroke.
- Johnny Damon is a legitimate DH and leadoff option.
- Mike Lowell last 18 games: .433/.506/.642
- Derek Jeter last 17 games: .254/.303/.282
- Red Sox as a team v. Pettitte: .347/.401/.529 (242 AB)
- Joba Chamberlain is fat.

So, cmaff, did you find all the cheap hits the Yankees got "disgusting" (like you were when the Red Sox got about half as many cheap hits against the Angels as the Yankees got tonight) while Clemens posted a .058 BAPIP tonight?

Clemens was as far from filthy as one can be. He topped out in the very low-90's and his splitter was solid but nothing special (aside from the one thrown to Varitek late in the game). He was as hittable as he has been all year, and with him walking as many as he did the Red Sox should've scored 5+ runs off him. How many times do pitchers have "filthy" stuff and strikeout 2 in 6 IP?34Celtic wrote:-= original quote snipped =-
Clemens was absolutly filthy that night, he had trouble throwing strikes because his splitter was breaking so hard out of the zone. I can't belive I just saw BABIP used for a start, his stuff was dirty the other night.
Bleeding Green wrote:This is all a conspiracy by corporate television to raise ratings for the rest of the season. The Red Sox could have easily swept, but what is the fun in that? The season is over at that point. A Yankees sweep makes the rest of the season much more exciting.
Thanks NESN.

Sorry, we just seem to own Beckett, Dice-K doesn't impress me, Schilling is Mike Mussina waiting to happen, Lester/Tavarez???c'mon. Wakefield is the only one who scares me and we usually fair decently against him
34Celtic wrote:thats fine, but I've seen him pitch some very good games, and not saying Beckett won't do it some day, but he isn't the pitcher Clemens is.
Yeah, not to mention, his logic was absolutely absurd.cmaff051 wrote:-= original quote snipped =-
Who cares what pitcher Clemens was 5 years ago? Or even 3 years ago? He isn't the same pitcher. He isn't 25 anymore, he isn't even 35, he's 45.
Beckett has been a far better pitcher than Clemens this year.
