I'd say pre-Gobert you'd say we weren't doing enough in all aspects. In a post-Gobert world the USA (government aspect anyway) is doing tons in regards to shutting so much stuff down.

Covid-19 was covid-19 long before Gobert acted like the imbecile he is ...but a big percentage of the population only started taking notice after Gobert's positive test (& combined with Tom Hanks' positive test on the very same night).

Literally, everything has to be overly dramatic for us to start taking any action. Extremely sad, but true.

The virus isnt dangerous enough on an individual level for someone of my demographic to risk taking a vaccine that is fast tracked through and doesnt have long term safety data. I'd imagine a lot of people would feel the same way

As a person under the age of 50 and with a strong immune system, I have zero interest in taking a new vaccine for Covid.

If you get the virus you could spread it to other people. Plus you still have a chance to get sick and possibly dying if it gets into your lungs.

And the vaccine can have unintended side effects that cant possibly be known if it's fast tracked. I'd have to be certain that its safe before i even think about taking it

And we think that will all the doom & gloom articles in circulation, that it's actually the norm when it's not.

And because we have such a fragile ego and being wrong is too painful, we call anyone who disagrees dumb, racist, ignorant, evil, etc.

you think about china as the epicenter of all these diseases because, yeah, it is xenophobia and society encourages sinophobia. and they do have these sorts of diseases there because it's a poor third world country that a lot of people from all around the world are constantly traveling back and forth from.

i think we pretty well know this, and folk are worried about getting sick and then transferring it to old people with compromised immune systems.

It seems pretty obvious that what is happening in Italy RIGHT NOW is a doom and gloom scenario where doctors are having to decide who to save, and would also be a 'doom and gloom' scenario in other countries- regardless of what the mortality rate is.

Ya, there's really no comparison. What other country has produced outbreaks that have reached around the globe? Some countries have outbreaks that have few cases around the world but the largest affect is on those home countries. This is 3rd time that China has produced an outbreak and this time it might legit crash the entire world economy.

That you think that shouldnt be a topic of discussion is ridiculous. It's not racist to question the hygiene of China's food markets.
