You have the Nuggets, the Sixers, and arguably the Pacers and Magic (who I'm really stretching the definition of "good" here), and that's it.
Even with guys like KAT and AD, it's been really a struggle for teams to build consistent good teams around them
So for me, I think it'd be better for us to roll with Mitch and use our pick on a good wing/guard prospect. The issue, of course, being that there really isn't a great prospect in this draft. Maybe Anthony Edwards, or LaMelo if you're really high on him, but I think Wiseman is clearly BPA
I'd take Edwards over Wiseman, but that's about it. If nobody offers a godfather deal, just take Wiseman then
I think your analysis on bigs in the NBA is spot on but I'm kinda surprised the only wing/guard you like better than Wiseman is Edwards. Is it because you just don't like LaMelo and Hayes or you're just higher on Wiseman?
I'm not really big on Hayes, he could be good, but I think Wiseman has a much higher ceiling
LaMelo is just a really hard prospect for me to grade. I think even at his peak, I don't see him being a great scorer (and his defense is pretty lackluster), but his vision is great and he shows flashes of at least being able to shoot. He reminds me a lot of Lonzo, only difference being I can't remember if Lonzo's defense was as bad in college
I honestly might take Haliburton over them, I think Haliburton gives you pretty much everything Lonzo does, but he's shorter and not as good of a passer. But he is much more developed, and a near perfect fit next to RJ if everything pans out
Deni Avdija is someone I'm gonna pay attention to too, I think he's gonna start rising up the boards. Haven't seen enough of him yet though
I've really gone a full 180 on LaMelo. I really couldn't get lonzo out of my head either when I first started watching him but I think there's some pretty major differences. They're IQ, vision, and passing are very similar but LaMelo's handles are way more advanced than his brothers and he's got much better touch too. There's a bunch of floaters in his bag and not a horrendous free throw shooter. I think he will be more successful in the half court right away because of that. He's got a bunch of step backs and other dribble moves that Lonzo just doesn't have and his jumper is less broken. He's got this weird, two handed push shot but I think once he gets stronger it will work itself out.
I was higher on Haliburton a few weeks ago. RJ has met my expectations but I'm not convinced he's a primary ball handler and everything I read about Haliburton that he's not one either.
I'm a fan of Avija but he's definitely going to get over drafted because there's some similarities to Luka. There's some good scouting videos within the last 10 pages of the thread if you want to check him out some.
