While it's frustrating to see many kids and quite frankly adults totally disregarding the current situation and living life like nothing is happening is unsurprising. I remember when I was a teenager, and I felt invincible and did some incredibly stupid things. It's only when I started to see friends and people I know go to jail is when it hit me that if I don't grow up quicker I'm going to end up in the same position.
Though it's not forgiveable, it is still understandable as to why some of the younger generation are being more flippant about the situation. At that age you tend to only think about yourself, you want to have fun and you have little to no responsibilities to worry about. The greater picture doesn't seem as clear.
That said, it wasn't too long ago that even I didn't take the situation all that seriously, and my mindset was, I'm a home body, I'm healthy, I've got nothing to worry about, but with the increasingly serious escalation of the matter, it turned from worrying about myself and more about those around me, whether it be the people at work, my family and friends. And if more people stopped worrying about themselves (the hoarding behavior is a good example) and began to worry more about others, this whole situation around the world will subside sooner.
If this means giving up on some liberities which many of us take for granted anyways, why? Because it's not just about us as individuals anymore, it's about your neighborhood, your state, your country, the world. I've alluded to it in a different post, but many of the first world countries have the technology to shut cities down, using South Korea as the perfect example, where they've used cell phone tracking, survelliance and credit card tracking technology to ensure people stay at home, especially those infected and targeting people who have been in contact with those infected and it has been highly effective. Does it give up on some liberities and freedoms many people live by, sure, but right now people need to think bigger picture and minimizing the devastating impact sooner rather than later.
I went on a tanget for which I apologise, but I live in Australia and we are going by this entire situation very similar to the United States of sorts, and the government here are seemingly more worried about the economy, moreso than people's safety and though they have recently taken additional steps to ensure people are doing the right thing, I personally don't think it hasn't gone far enough and those who are infected as a result is continuing to trend upwards.
Everyone stay safe, wherever you reside and please do the right thing, not only for yourself, but for those around you.
