Do the Bulls need a point guard? I guess it depends on whether you believe Coby White is the future starting point guard or an explosive guard off the bench.
The Bulls have a lot of young talented pieces, but none of them have developed into the players they were projected to be. Does adding a playmaker help that development? I think so. My biggest issue with Otto Porter Jr. and Lauri Markkanen is their inability to create their own shot. The Bulls need someone who can make the players around them better, which is exactly what LaMelo Ball brings to the table. He already has elite ball handling, passing, and rebounding skills for a guard. All skills that the Bulls need. He's also one of the youngest prospects in this draft class.
LaMelo is far from a perfect prospect. His attitude, shooting, and defense are major concerns. I'm less concerned about his shooting ability than others. My biggest concern is his fit with LaVine defensively. The front office needs to do their homework on his work ethic and desire to be great.
IMO, the Bulls need to take advantage of their injury riddled season. When you have three starting players all missing significant time, you need to make a move to grab the best player possible with this draft pick, whether that’s moving up in the draft or trading the pick for a player. If it is a player in the draft, they need to decide who is the best fit between LaMelo Ball or Anthony Edwards.
