Sorry man. You’re right. Nothing but positive vibes from here on out. Speak it into existence. Visualize that guy who opens the envelopes I don’t know his name saying “and that means the #1 pick in the 2020 nba draft goes to the New York Knicks”

yeah if the top 7 goes like (in no particular order) - Wiseman, Edwards, Ball, Haliburton, Hayes, and Okungwu

I really wonder what we would do...

We'd have to go with Obi Toppin. Nice consolation prize and he should come in with a chip on his shoulders.

Hell ya let me get a 6'9 forward with a 7-2 wingspan, 9.15 standing reach. Elite physical tools. Can put the ball on the floor, create his shot, can defend 1-5, above average athletcism, strong rebounder, showed flashes of being a shooter, and is only 20 yrs old. Tons of upside

The Knicks normally always end up picking just outside the last of the premium players each draft. :(

Yeah 7th is there....but if we make it past that we are golden.

Something like 37% chance at top 4 ...That's more than a punchers chance.

But who are the premium guys in this draft? Lamelo? You could argue that there are none. Or may there are 3? I'm just going hope for top four..that might get us whoever we would ultimately want anyway.

there are so many underlying factors but with this shorten season and with the news that Thibs is a clear favorite and Rose is an agent...I wonder if he plans a legit play it slow rebuild or he will get pressure from Dolan to turn this around and put a respectable product on the floor at the cost of potentially skipping steps.

I know thats a pretty negative outlook but lets says we have been down this road before and we seem to never choose the right path.

I would think Rose will at least have a year grace period.....i mean, even Dolan should understand by now it cant be turned around overnight. So next year really needs to be focused on setting things up as best as possible, including development. At least i hope. You never know what the plan or directive is though. Im sure eventually they will go after stars and take some shots

The stars went to Brooklyn. Not hard to imagine Dolan being furious about that. Rose is here to get star players, I think that much is clear. Didn't he give the green light to Perry to continue working the DLo trade as soon as he arrived and even told Perry to include a first round pick? Obviously the Warriors declined the offer but I think it's safe to assume we aren't going to take the slow and steady approach.

It's funny that there was a recent report about Brooklyn inquiring about Bradley Beal, oof. If Beal was available I'm putting money on Rose being on it.

Yea, Rose is def here to bring in star players. That could be good, or could be bad. It all depends on when, how and who. I really don't know what will happen, but will give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Just given the landscape it doesnt seem like there are many homerun swings to take so i lean more towards the Knicks taking the conservative approach.

You never know who will become available though so I would not count out a big move either. I do expect a big move to happen its just a matter of when...i kinda feel like if they do make a big move it will be for Ball though. That would be my guess.

There were a lot of rumors around the trade deadline and a lot of changes so it was hard to say if the rumors were legit or not. In the end we only got picks for Morris which was a good move. I get the sense that it was more due diligence in his calls about Russell. If Rose wanted to pay he probably could have gotten him

This is why I was furious when the directive was to still win games after the all star break.
The sample size is too small to say tanking is still not the best of options.
Or at the least we should have been smart enough to not drop out of the top 3.

right now it is 0 percent chance of the 5th pick
and 24 percent if i am correct of the 7 or 8th pick
and I think 9 percent of 1 through 4

You alwasy take the best odds possible. and the best odds still go to the teams with the worse records.

~50% that we pick either 7 or 8th
~37% that we pick 1st-4th

I cant get too mad at that, especially in this draft.

The Knicks didn't cut the scouting department or made changes to it. In Walt Perrin, they've only just added one of the best drafting minds and executives in the Western conference , top 5 in all the NBA according to the following Reddit forum.

What team has the best scouting department?

I know it's sort of impossible to determine, but I was just thinking about who consistently finds the diamonds in the rough in the draft?

Normal consensus is probably the Spurs but they haven't exactly killed it in the draft lately (kawhi was a great pick and Murray looks to be as well).
My money is on Denver. For the last 5 or 6 years they've constantly found guys late in the draft that have exceeded their draft slot.
Fournier Jokic Nurkic Gary Harris Hernangomez looks like he will be a player Beas will probably be solid.
Love to hear your thoughts on any team that's better.

Getting hard to pick up rough diamonds now as most of our steals (aside from Kawhi) were international players and there are a lot of scouts keeping an eye on them in recent years.
Plus Spurs always pick in the late 20s the last decade. I guess it is payback for having two #1 picks that actually panned out great.

Yes, to the above, it's not only about position, but then making the most of where you fall as a team. Perrin should help immensely.

And the Knicks did pretty good with lower picks/UDFA, so there's a little something to their scouting department/FO.

It sure seems like we have more success with that part of the draft than with our no. 1 picks. I wouldn't trade down though in this draft. Maybe pair our no. 2 and our late first round pick for one in the mid-teens. (Get your mind out of the gutter!)

Have they come up with a date for the draft yet? Espn had some tentative dates for this season's end/playoffs and next season's training camp (Nov1) and season (Dec1) but couldn't find draft info.

Maxey might be an underrated option on the Knicks board. Leon Rose is close with Coach Cal/Kentucky so he should have a lot of intel. Rumors were that the Knicks were looking for a scoring G, and Maxey could be the best one when we pick. He feels like one of those guys who will pan out better in the NBA and be pretty good.
