It's not likely but it's not impossible. I'm sure there's a movement of GOP who would seek to quietly oust him and lavish praise on him, etc. Get him immunity.
Mitt is out there. Marching. Trump down 15 in Michigan, a swing state.
You can bet that all but a handful of the GOP in DC want Trump gone. They're just petrified of losing the 20% of the population that hugs Trump's nutz, because that would literally send the whole party into retirement.
Use the 25th Amendment and all hell will break loose. Their only play is to get him to resign. Anything else and the wackos will martyr Trump and crucify the GOP.
To make that happen they need to get Attorney Generals to promise to not press charges against Trump and that's a stretch.
The GOP is a snakepit where Trump has komprommat on many of the Senators (Exhibit A: Lindsey Graham) so really they're damned either way.
I worry about it, because I want Trump to lose in a historic landslide and take them with him, but something could happen and Trump gets dumped somehow. I just haven't figured out how they could pull it off without sabotaging themselves at the same time.
I'm betting Pelosi also wants Trump to be there on Nov. 3rd too for the same reason, hence I don't expect a second impeachment which at this point would be a get out of jail card for the GOP Senators.
If there is a way to expel Trump, I think it will probably happen by the end of July. After that, I figure it's Trump on Nov. 3rd.
In April, I predicted his numbers would start dipping into the thirties right about now and his aggregate deficit is now 14 points. No reason to get overconfident, but there is zero historical precedent for an incumbent to be in this kind of hole this close to the election. Plus, Biden has had and increased his lead since the end of 2019, also atypical for a challenger.
Trump is uniquely self-destructive. He didn't campaign well in 2016. He became the object of populist projections and then it was James Comey who put him over the top. He's such a dolt he doesn't have a clue about how to campaign now.
His campaign isn't even trying. Literally. They're phoning it in. I saw conjecture that everyone around Trump has so little respect for him they just lie to his face, feed him phony polling numbers and run local ads on Washington DC network affiliate stations because they know Bunker Boy will see those.
They're just raking in their last payday eating up their media buying commissions and yessing Donnie to death. I really don't think anyone around him is planning on winning. The ship is sinking and I don't think Trump has any allies left trying to help him right the ship other than Stephen Miller. They're looting Trump while they can.
If he really had anyone of any caliber left to assist him at this point there would be some glimmer of a plan. There is none. He has Jared saying let's gas the protestors and Ivanka handing him a bible from her handbag. It's like a mafia family in an old Western movie surrounded at Fort Apache.
