Not for fuggin' nuttin' but there are these contraptions called "Pitching Screens" that have been around since, um, I don't know, about 1955. I hear they're used to protect high priced starting pitchers from injury during batting practice and intra squad games during spring training.
But Tanaka's not throwing batting practice here. I think they're doing a simulated game.
