Hillary was certainly more of a lightening rod. So that must be Trump's strategy. He has to define Biden as an unacceptable choice bc of those past issues with Biden (plagiarism, Anita Hill, Medicare/Social Security, Mandela, etc.

Will that strategy work with those swing voters in the important swing states? Time will soon tell. The one thing that will continue to serve Biden well is Trump's sociopathy and ineptness.

Well, if he's going to do it, he better get started

The problem with that is Joe Biden is as generic Democrat as it gets. There is no real reason to have any strong feelings about Biden either way.

How do you vilify plain yogurt to a person who has been eating sh*t for 4 years. How do you convince them that plain yogurt is just as bad as sh*t, let alone sh*t being better?

Trump has been trying to say Biden is a major leftist, in order to gin up emotion. It hasn't worked.

I say this with all sincerity, the only path forward that makes sense for Trump is to start acting like a normal president, and hope that people forget how much they hate him.

I think he's so incapable of that, that his team has ruled out even considering it.

Yeah, did you see Trump's light bulb video I posted above? He's really losing his mind, if that was even possible.

Trump trying to portray Biden as a lefty is very misguided. That's definitely a dumb move. You don't even have to go there with Joe. Just paint him as the same establishment Democrat in vein of Obama and Clinton and that they will continue to sell out the average Joe (unlike Trump  ).

I agree with you, generally, but we'll see. I have some reservations about how things will go in a COVID world when all of his multi-billionaire friends are dumping boatloads of money into his campaign. If he picks Kamala, that's even more of a concern.

I also have a big problem with "plain yogurt" at a time like this. It's like bringing water sprinkler to house fire. We need bold action now. Biden is saying some good things and some not so good things. But what happens in November? What parts of the Joint Bernie-Biden task force will end up the DNC platform and then how will those platform points get watered down once he's in office? It's like Obama negotiating Obamacare from a position of weakness. He didn't even ask for a public option in his plan. We've seen this time and time again from establishment Democrats. Plain yogurt is not going to get us out of this mess. Our system is broken.

But yogurt is a great side dish ... but I prefer mine with grated cucumber, garlic, and a little organic apple cider vinegar.

What the DHS is doing in Portland does have me pretty concerned though in terms of federal overreach and ICE is also out here trying to offer a citizens academy to arrest immigrants. Not saying anything is definite, but it could get ugly fast, especially if things are even slightly close.

I think so. Trump could create havoc on the street level. I just don't think he'll get very far in terms of overturning election results. So I expect the worst outcome to be on the local level and it could involve him using his last days to muscle people with federal agents while inciting violence from the MAGAts.

Well. Obviously I don't like it.

I've been pretty out of the loop though. Work has been insanity. Only time for BAF.

Wow, they didn't kidnap you. Phew. I was concerned.

What the hell is going on in my potential future home in Portland?

Yeah, that about sums up what I'm picturing along with the administration probably trying to "tie up loose ends" which is code for trying to put policies or push legal battles late that would shield him from whatever investigations ought to follow this horrendous presidency. The lame duck session is bound to be chaotic, but the "in what way" has quite a few potential directions.

What do cornered rats do when they are threatened? That's what Trump will do. It'll be interesting to see how the more mainstream republicans react to all this in between now and November.

Trump is turning Portland into Antifa-Town. I read the list of acts of domestic terrorism in Portland cited to justify their incursion into Portland and every item on the list was grafitti. I do not kid. Grafitti is the justification for sending in unmarked federal agents who are rounding up people with no explanation. I think Trump believes he is going to stage some kind of Antifa show trial to feed his base. It is getting looney

They'll try to bury whatever they can, but it won't ultimately shield him from federal crimes. Any attempts to shield Trump by Barr may end up being reversed when the new leadership takes over at the DOJ. He'll still be indicted by Cyrus Vance Jr. at the very least and there is nothing Barr can do to stop that.

Also, we don't have a lot of statues that need to be knocked down as badly as they do in the south so they knocked down a bunch of ones that were like "meh... really?" I betcha those offenses are on there. He needs to mind his own damn business.

The only delicious piece is how hypocritical it all is. "Stop Federal tyranny... but also we have no issue with blanket Federal arrests of groups we think we don't like." It's so transparent. We (and by we I mean other people in Oregon) will take the fall for the country in exposing the foolishness.

His thing with Antifa is so ridiculous. Terror, I say. I had a coworker call the kayak protesters "kay-terrorists" a few years back. It's like, damn son - your threshold for terror is mad low. Just fyi, that dark dude right there is just your shadow. Just in case you're worried.

Anyway, it reminds me of that.

Read on Twitter

The full Chris Wallace interview is probably going to be a real Waterloo

Wallace evidently had Fox's blessing, because he is the most non-MAGA journalist left on their roster. Trump probably took that bait because he's at Fox at least. Big mistake

Remember the town in Eastern Oregon that had MAGA lined up on main street with their guns and ammo waiting for two busloads of Antifa that were reported heading their way? They ended up standing there with their dicks in their hands like chumps. It reminded me of one of my favorite Onion headlines:

Ninja Parade Slips Through Town Unnoticed Once Again

There is literally no difference now between Trump's antics and an Onion headline other than the consequences are more serious

The town I work for had a similar thing happen. People came out in "counter" concerned about an Antifa inundation at a scheduled BLM protest which, obviously, never showed. Our PD did the right thing and kept the two groups separate, understanding that the "counter" group was the one likely to escalate. There was a nice showing of the young folk in town for BLM. Times they are a changin'.

What’s Gov. Brown’s response to all of this? I would send the Oregon State national guard to surround all ingress and egress to Portland. Just surround the city with them.

Edit: I just watched Brown’s response. I thought it was weak.

ANTIFA needs to organize quickly. There’s no fcking way that I’d let them take me away. I’d carry a knife with me and fck them up. If I go, I go. You don’t know who these motherfckers are.

Oh noes! The librul antifa old fart wants to defund the suburbs.

Trump trying to get white (and a few non white) middle class women in a twist.

Nice try Donald. We know you are shedding suburban women voters faster than a Bernese mountain dog sheds it's coat before summer, but no dice.
