i'd happily do it. RJ is the only thing of significant value and let's be real no matter how high you are on RJ he's not going to be harden, he didn't even have a really good rookie season. 8 and 27 will probably be busts and then you have the late first round mavs picks. And as an added bonus we get rid of randle? We don't even have to trade one of our own picks? and we get one of the best players in the nba

houston would laugh and hang up

Nice. Now who you gonna surround Harden with.

We’d still have all our picks in the follow years and I’m pretty sure we’d still have another max spot for Harden to pick his own running mate.

If Mitch can lead the Knicks in assists per game or space the floor while making $5 million per or score & defend like AD, sign me up.

I am talking about defense

They know how to play defense without costing themselves and their teams. Mitch aint nowhere close to them.

I'd say Mitch meets and exceed Theis.

I mean, I love all the Mitch hate for the aggravation it causes Shammgod, but Mitch is still good, even if this is his ceiling.

What needs to stop is the automatic assumption he'll find another level, something I've been guilty of, and a general overrating of his defense, which is great, but doesn't automatically make his entire game great.

Which is ironic, since these arguments is what drives Shamms' Frank bashing, but they hold true for Mitch to a great extent. Obviously he's been more impactful and was drafted lower.

Ultimately, depending on his development (which could still occur, though overstated), Mitch is kind of a young version of the story Donnie Walsh said about David Lee: "Sometimes a player is good at one price, but not at another"

Good teams have shown their is a role for a player like Mitch, but not unlike running backs in the NFL, it's less valuable, isn't generally a franchise spot, the players are cheaper, drafted lower and the position is filled by committee.

At the right price, Mitch is a keeper for any team.

*parts of this post influenced by the blog on Mitch*. Obviously.

And Harden is the Cadillac version of that player, having proved he can play that style for at least 6 years, the years where Harden is really dominating the Houston offense/scoring a ton/passing a ton/getting a lot of assists.

Great players, no doubt. And Donic has gotten to the level Harden was at 6 years ago from day 1, while Harden took a little bit to evolve, or be given that role - or a bit of both.

Still, they are pretty damn similar. :D

Because Doncic at 21 is already better than Harden has ever been

Yeah they play pretty much the same way. Drive to the rim... flop.. step back 3... orchestrate an offense and play no defense with 0 mid range game. Of course it’s more impressive that Doncic is close to Harden’s level at a younger age. But they’re pretty much the same players.

That's kind of laughable.

He achieved Hardens stride for the last 6 years in his first or second season.
They are now effectively the same guy.
It IS impressive that he did that, where it took Harden like 6 years to fall into that mode/role

(circumstances of where drafted come into play here, but Luka was more likely to be handed the keys because of how awesome he was young)

Luka MIGHT, and probably will, find another level, but for now? Pretty much the same guy.

I mean, even down to flopping, whining and not playing defense.
Oh, sorry, Harden is the better shooter.

is it?

better distirbutor, better rebounder, better in the clutch (Luka's # got better in the playoffs not consistently worse like Harden)

also Luka shot 46% from the field which Harden never has never done since his backup time on OKC. Luka's effeciency will only get better since he was only 20 this year.

If Luka is still struggling to get out of the 1st and 2nd round at he age of 30 then sure I will come back and say they had simlar careers.

They'll need to suck it up if either of them want to win. Harden is younger too so it gives the Bucks a little bit more time before he's washed.

Harden is 31 now.

He is old enough to be a risky sign because he can lose athleticism and be more injury-prone due to age.

But he is relatively young to be a really expensive trade.

He makes sense only for a win-now team.

I certainly wouldn't. Houston traded away most of their picks for the next for years for Westbrook. They should have kept CP3 who is by and large a superior point guard and shooter. They are Capped out too. In four years Harden will be 35??? So no I would not bail them out.

They are royally stuck and F@cked and in no position to laugh at anyone.

my top 5 right now in no praticular order

LeBron
Luka
Kawhi

now the rest can be personal preference i believe but I like

Giannis
PG13
Dame
KD (assuming he is healthy)
Curry (assuming he is healthy)

then I round it out with Harden and AD.

That is my top 10

Tatum is just on the outside looking in as an up and commer to that list if one of the old heads or injured guys can't make it back to there regular form.
