Our defense >>>>>> yours. By basically most metrics. Your defense ain't that good, you got a bunch of guys that are easy to exploit, which is admitted by you coach and that zone. You would play man defense, if you could defend us.
Actually Kemba slightly pushed Jones into Smart, Jones extended his hands forward, which he shouldn't have done and that led to the foul.
Not arguing about who is better, only arguing your point about Zone meaning we can’t play man.
Clearly you’ve never played in a competitive basketball game. Based on assignments, matchups, shifts, etc... it is harder to play zone. It’s not about a lack of athleticism or exploits (which is wrong because our best run in zone comes with athletic DJJ at the top) - but it’s about the overall basketball IQ. Teams with a low IQ cannot physically play zone. It’s much easier to focus on a singular opponent or switch, it’s much harder to cover an area with multiple principles and rules based on situation. You have to cover every single player for different stretches.
If we played Zone because we couldn’t defend, we still wouldn’t be able to defend and you’d score 150 on the zone. This is not your basic sit down 2-3 defense that you’re taught in middle school.
This is very similar to a Syracuse style(adjusted for defensive 3 seconds and occasional wing traps) where the wings are up high.
Last question, when’s the last time a “gimmick” made it this far in the playoffs? If it’s a gimmick, why can’t the Celtics crack it and why is Brad Stevens on the court screaming time out in frustration after 2 possessions of your young kids standing around and holding the ball in confusion.
