Better the Heat than the Lakers. Wouldn’t want drama Queen getting his 4th as well. You gotta love Jimmy Buckets! Played almost the entire game, and willing his team to victory, by sinking all those crucial free throws and mid range jumpers. I liked his no nonsense attitude, no show boating and all hard work grind it out superstar mentality. I hope Tatum and Brown develop that mental toughness one day.

i think they will, the talent is there obviously its just a matter of more experience. You guys should be tougher next year.

I agree. Experience is everything. Next season would be tough!

The Jays developing that mental toughness that players like Jimmy have will definitely make them much much better than they are now.

Probably the same Lakers fan who was doing the same to Harrison Barnes in the 2015-16 Finals.

Many fan bases do that, even/especially in college and even high school sports, although it may be more directed at coaches in those cases.

Spo is a **** savant. His only big is an injured 6'9" Adebayo and is trotting out essentially 3 rookies, two of whom are undrafted and two of whom aren't really known for their defense. Sometimes he uses the corpse of Iguodala as center.

Read on Twitter

Lakers still favorites to win but Spo's gotten the most out of his team, of all the teams that played in the bubble. Oh, and Butler is a freaking warrior. Showing what max players are expected to do on the biggest stage. Something our young guys could emulate.

I can't speak for others but I don't want the lakers to win. I just think they are going to..........and miami losing would be amazing to me. Not as amazing as the lakers losing, but seeing them heartbroken after breaking ours would be lovely.........I'm petty like that.

i think you will be sorely disappointed, our guys are super proud to be competing at this stage and gaining experience, everybody knows we overachieved a lot. If the lose the series, they will just come back and fight even harder next season, they will be ready not heartbroken. On another note, you guys are nuts if you want to get rid of your coach, he is pretty good, you lost the series because the problem Bam caused with your centers, not even Kemba being a bad defender, we have three horrible defenders in our perimeter ( Herro, Drob and Nunn) and we are competing against the mighty lakers. If we had more size this series could have been over in favor of the heat, that will be our demise if there is one.

You can "come back harder" next season but let's be realistic here, this is your shot. The east will be even stronger next year with the nets getting KD and kyrie back healthy and the celtics stars being a year older with more experience.. And let's not forget the bucks and toronto. The chance of the heat getting back to the finals next year are slim IMO. Good team, great coach, but like you said yourself they are overachieving. Getting to the finals is not easy. When you waste an opportunity It matters. Nothing is guaranteed. Also I know butler will be heartbroken. He has made it known he thinks the heat can win a championship THIS YEAR. He will not be proud of any moral victory.

But if Jaylen ever does get to that level? Watch the **** out.

I think he can. Got a lot of faith in that dude. Already a WAY different player than he was when he first got drafted. Testament to his work ethic.

I honestly believe Jaylen Brown, if he remains healthy, will surpass Jimmy Butler. He has the right mentality and the natural tools to succeed in this league.

Considering Bam just scored in a pnr over AD, they should trade him for Myles Turner right?

I agree. Brown is doing way more at his age than jimmy did at his age and for some reason some people doubt brown can be better one day........I don't get it.

I agree. I didn't expect the celtics to win the title this year. Doesn't make losing feel any better..........Also, just looked at the heats board........that doesn't look like a bunch of fans that expected to lose......

Nothing against Jaylen, but to be blunt, you could probably say the same about a lot of players who are not, were not, never became, and never will become nearly as good as Jimmy Butler.

At Jaylen's age, Butler might not have been putting up big numbers, but by advanced stats he had become one of the league's best two way players. If we're talking instincts and IQ and defensive ability, Butler was already elite (or was at least on the verge). Jaylen is a very capable defender but has never been statistically elite and is actually coming off a statistically poor showing on defense this season, his instincts might no longer represent a weakness but they are far from a strength, and even if he is no longer as TO prone he still just isn't the ballhandler and passer and overall crafty player that Butler always has been. Butler's A/TO ratio was nearly two to one; Jaylen's was under one to one this season.

Like, Jaylen has the pieces to put together, and he showed some great progress early this season, then in the playoffs I felt he not only showed progress in terms of his skills, but also in terms of mindset and maturity. But if he had ever bought into the casual fan's notion that he is comparable to Jimmy Butler, already as good even, I hope to god he's been watching these finals and realizing that he's got still a **** of work to put in before he gets there.

I think there is also a disconnect with Celtics fans and how good they think Butler is. The posters who think Butler is a top 10-15 player don’t think Jaylen will be the next Butler or better. But there are also posters who think Butler is more of a top 20-25 guy, so thinking that Jaylen will be better than him is less egregious.

The disconnect also lies in the raw numbers versus impact/advanced stats. Raw numbers don’t do Butler justice, but he is one of the best impact players in the league. And for the great raw stats that Jaylen put up this season, almost all the advanced/impact stats have him closer to an above average player than a great one. I believe he is 70 or below in pretty much every one of them, even an efficiency stat like PER.

Wheels are falling off for Miami. Bam has been really bad. Butler can't even guard Rondo. They're getting nothing out of Herro.

It’s crazy how Bam looked average against the Lakers, and how he turned ito Shaq against Theis! We need an upgrade at the 5 ASAP. A legit big man!

Return to Boston Celtics
