For example I planned my entire salary based off my slots. I now have to wait until the guy picks above me to pick even if he misses his pick to make sure I have enough salary?
Then run the risk of getting skipped as well because I have to wait before you announce to make sure he sent his pick in before me even during my time slot?
Especially with you not being able to always be around to make every selection in actual time you aren't superman and have a life

(if we send picks ahead of time slotted I could be way over salary and have no clue just by making my picks in my correct time slot).
Don’t recall it ever happening in the NBA but teams have been skipped in the NFL draft and to the best of my knowledge, this is the way they have done it.
You can definitely argue that it gives an advantage to the team being skipped but it is also a disadvantage in the fact that they will have one less player to choose from. It can be a disadvantage to the team moving up because they have to pay the higher salary but it’s also an advantage because they get more choice in their selection.
Plus, no team will be forced to pick a player just because the team in front of you is skipped. You can wait your full allotment of time while you are now on the clock as well.
This is not to punish the team. It is done for the players benefit. Imagine the first couple picks being skipped and then the #1 overall player drafted getting paid with the third salary slot. The player should not be punished. This is the main reason the salary goes with the draft slot, not necessarily the team.
I understand what you’re saying, but this is the way our draft has always worked. People who are actively online can still make your choice in the proper slot. And if you can’t be here, PM me your top two choices.
But picks get announced in real time and you just can't be here all times of the day and I get that. I would never technically know when the guy in front of me picked even during my time slot seems way out of bounds.
I have no issues with sending 2 or even 3 selections to you (I will be here during my slots that isn't my concern). But if its during my timeslot I have to assume the team above me wasn't skipped he you just didn't announce it yet? What if I wait the entire 2 hours of my time slot you still haven't made an announcement. I'm would be literally just waiting and risk myself getting skipped as well just for salary purposes? Lets say I would have to wait even after my time slot just to make sure I can make the financial commitment work?
I would vote for an immediate rule to make this changed. If Hoffa is going to play games and what even if that person says "pick is in" and lie about it...and then I make a pick during my timeslot and then find out they actually didn't to get a lower salary because they know who I may pick and wanted to wait a pick to save money.
This has to be changed bish. And the fact is NBA teams can operate over the cap to both resign there own FA"s and sign future draft picks as they please over multiple years. Are rules are very damaging for teams being over the salary cap so teams should be able to operate knowing there pick salary as long as they make there picks in there right time slot.
Picks will get announced in real time as often as possible. There will obviously be a few hours here and there where I won’t be able to get to a computer. But just like the last couple of years, I will be sure to let the people know when that will be so they can plan accordingly. I have a couple of hours tomorrow where I will not be available. Most of the day Sunday and Monday I’ll be online waiting for picks to be sent in to me and most picks will be made in real time.
This has not been an issue in past drafts because most every GM makes their pick ahead of time. We are generally way ahead of the time slot schedule that is posted in the thread. If a GM does use the entire allotment of time or if it happens to be one of those times I’ve announced that I will be away from my computer, teams can PM me their two person list. If they care about the player, they can say they want the player in the PM regardless of salary. If the salary slot is more important, then it can be written up that way in the PM. Player A/Player B in the X slot.
No one will be forced to pick a player with a higher salary then you planned for. It is an option and a reward for the team that gets to have more options when they are on the clock. If you want to stay in your slot, you can still absolutely do that.
