"Heat has
worked out Arizona power forward/center
Zeke Nnaji on Sunday and
interviewed San Diego State point guard
Malachi Flynn.
"The Heat also has expressed interest in Alabama’s
Kira Lewis Jr., but
many project him to be gone by No. 20."
Lewis, a 6-3 point guard who played two years at Alabama, averaged 18.8 points and 5.2 assists and shot 36.6 percent on threes last season."
Kira Lewis is a player I am very high on myself. I share the same opinion that he likely gone before 20. Or at least he should be. This is why I do not care what sites like nbadraft.net say who have him barely a first rounder. They move the players around every week just for clicks and they have no intel to do so.
It will be interesting to hear about the players the Heat have worked out. Work outs seem to be the sign of high interest in the player. How that player looks in the workouts are vital. I am curious how the workouts are put together with the CDC/COVID regulations. In the past the Heat would bring in prospects together and play 3 on 3s. This is what led the Heat to draft Wade, who dominated in the workouts vs other prospects.
What I like about Lewis is his quickness, explosiveness and his first step. He doesnt over dribble to beat his man. The trend for players today have been to stop the ball at the top of the key and make multiple moves in order to beat their man to make a good highlight like Harden. Lewis blows by his man a lot on his first step and finishes in control. I wouldnt mind the Heat moving up in the draft to secure a pick in Kira Lewis. But I highly doubt that would be an option. I actually have Lewis Jr rated highly as I did De'Aaron Fox. I believe Lewis is lottery talent.
Zeke Nnaji, the fact that the Heat physically worked him out means there was serious interest prior to the workout. If there is still interest, that will dependent on the how well he worked out. Nnaji has a lot of natural physical tools, still very raw. Played at a very respected program, so I am sure the Heat felt he got very good coaching and probably good reviews from the coaches.
Malachi Flynn, not sure if they worked him out or just an interview. I do not think this is a guy they have interest at 20. I think this is more of their due diligence if he goes undrafted or the Heat make a trade and get a second rounder.
