I'd rather get Aminu off the books first and have WeHam spend on min deals to try find some more Birch/Clark/MCW types to fill out the bench. Although TLC has been a name I've been interested in via FA and he might be worth the full MLE just to try price him out of Brooklyn's range.
Also, it feels like some kind of unspoken narrative is developing that the Magic are moving on from DJ. Are we? That doesn't feel like a WeHam move given how highly they and Clifford speak of him. I would imagine they'd only move on from him if he wanted to go chase a ring somewhere.
It will be interesting to observe what we do with Dj and MCW. I like both players but we have limited roster space. #45 this year also should produce a potential rotational player (most likely pg).
Dj seems like this teams vocal leader and it will be hard emotionally to move on from him this year. MCW on the other hand is the more undervalued player. Second lineup od MCW/Bane/Ross/Okeke/Bamba could be so fun to watch !!! Outside dropping Bamba its more or less capable of switching everythingwith more shooting than we saw since 2010. (switch MCW with DJ and we have less defense but 5 out offense,)
I love MCW. I hope we keep him around forever. He's easily one of the most influential players on this roster in terms of how much he can motivate an entire team's defense. His lineup numbers are all quite strong too. MCW is like our Marcus Smart, not as good but not as expensive. I would love to see a matured lineup of Bamba/Isaac/Okeke/MCW/Fultz in the future, just for the defensive potential. I often enjoy watching defense more than offense.
In terms of affordable veteran presence I don't think the team can do much better than MCW.
I love MCW also. His energy transforms the second unit. You can immediately see the difference with or without him. And he is cheap to resign. Hope we keep him.
