I’ll miss watching how under control he played, and his off ball cutting.

Looking back at reported reasons on why he came here it makes sense. Dude wanted a bigger spot light. He got unlucky that his leg snapped and the Jays ended up developing so rapidly

I had heard a trade to a different destination about a week ago.

**** losing Hayward for a TPE.

Hawks insiders seem to be insinuating he will opt in to be traded there, just needs to waive the kicker.

Also, if he opts in :P

COVID obviously a huge game-changer on the question of whether he would opt-in or not.

The sign-and-trade and extend-and-trade possibilities also didn't get enough love in the discussion. It was never a matter of a static landscape of x teams with y amount of cap room.

I am all for a sign and trade with the hawks. Going to be a tough pill to swallow if he pulls a Horford which I think this is where it is headed.

The problem is that the Hawks don't really need us.

That’s the thing...he was right there when he signed here. Sooo underrated, just a really good player. at that time he was trending right w pg and butler tho his defense not as good as either but he neutralized that with his playmaking and IQ.

ThAt injury just derailed his trajectory- by this time w no injuries i suspected he’d be a 3x all star w the Celtics

There are probably minor advantages for both them and Hayward in an extend-and-trade, but bottom line is that we'd probably be buying the TPE with a lesser pick of some kind.

FWIW, one of the Hawks insiders says we leaked the info he wants out. Also, he says we're trying to trade him and getting him to waive his trade kicker so he can negotiate a new deal with another team.

He probably wants to go to Miami. Wasn't the preveling thought after he signed with Boston that his wife was pushing him hard to pick Miami because of the weather and beaches?

I don't know what kind of beaches Atlanta has but something tells me it doesn't beat Boston lol. If you told me at the beginning of last year that the Celtics would let Horford Hayward and Kyrie walk and get nothing in return I'd think that you were nuts. It might very well happen and if it does then get ready for Grant Williams to join this lineup. Because they aren't making any big moves to this core.

no matter what happens, the Hayward acquisition was the right call. If you were to put Brad's system and what it needs into a computer, Hayward is among the first players in the entire league it'd spit out. High BBIQ, great handle, under control, good passer, solid defender, and can score on all three levels. When we got him he was putting up great numbers and was an ascending player. Before the injury he was an above the rim type athlete. He literally got injured on an alley oop. Those types of athletes who are also great at so many other things can be counted on less than two hands. The injury and the likely psychological impact more than physical, has completely negated the above the rim athlete he used to be. Minor injuries have kept him off the court and he's a 1a or 1b guy that the offense should flow through but because of Tatum and Kemba he's relegated to the 3rd playmaker and 4th in the shot pecking order. He makes too much to be filling that role. It's not his fault. It's not ours. It's just what is. Hopefully he can move on to somewhere he fits better and we still get some form of compensation via sign and trade but he can't control that like people think he does and he doesn't owe us anything.

Miami isn't jeopardizing the Giannis chase to get Gordon Hayward. The team that would want him is exactly a team like the Hawks or Mavs. A rising team needing that piece to take them to the next level. They would be betting on his health and the idea that a mental fresh start would do him good.

Give me Collins and Dedmond and I'll take that in a heartbeat.

Oh I doubt they take him. I mentioned it more so for the sake of the Haywards never really being fully sold on Boston. Both parties need to move on but I'm not sure Brad will be happy about it.

That's true but I'm hoping, probably irrationally, The Celtics don't let Hayward walk away and get nothing in return.

But at the end of the day they have no power over Hayward any longer

I could see Bulls as well. Close to the IND home. Has some room, tradeable contracts, etc.

Indiana Pacers.
Rumors about them wanting to Trade for him. Plus he already has a big ass house there.

Gordon Hayward has a sprawling $3 million mansion in Indiana that sits on nearly seven acres — with a pool, wine cellar and every fancy bell and whistle a house can boast.

This is the Trade that I've been thinking of, or something like it.:

With the escrow thing (shrunk actual salary), I don't think Hayward would agree to waive his trade kicker. That complicates things.
