Not too many NBA players from Sidwell Friends. I wonder if he know the Obama girls. Chelsea Clinton also went to Sidwell Friends.

Depends on what youre looking for. He’s not a high ceiling player. But he can contribute right away. Switchable on guards [did real well vs Dotson who is a plus nba-caliber athlete]. 3 point shot is a bit slow on the release and he needs his feet set but he can hit it.
He should be able to be a Jae Crowder type, except better vs smalls than bigs. RoCo has been tossed around, but Covington isnt a good man defender and Bey is.
I’d be happy with him at 14. But he doesnt have star potential.
who are your top 3 choices at 14??

I like Bey, I like Patrick Williams, I like Tyrell Terry and im still incredibly intrigued by the unique skill set of Poku. Id be happy with any of them, or a few other guys too.

Terry is my 2nd favorite player in the draft after Haliburton. I think he has a very high ceiling, and will make a team look smart as hell for stealing him.

One thing I haven't seen with Poku is an updated workout. All his videos are from way back when, before Covid19 Maybe has has gained some muscle and/or proven he can get stronger sooner than later. he has had 6 months to gain some much needed weight.
Love P Williams, S Bey.. like Terry.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
I've been on the Saddiq Bey band wagon for a long time. Not a big P. Williams fan. If I'm getting a big at 14, he has to be 6'9 or bigger. P. Williams didn't even start on his college team. I don't think he fits. They say he is 6'8, which is the same size they said Grant Williams was before we drafted him. Now he is really 6'6. We have 3 guards 6'0 or under, we have 2 PF's at 6'6, and 2 centers at 6'8. I don't want any more short power forwards, centers or point guards.

where do you get 6'6? meanwhile everyone skrinks a lot without sneakers. Isaac Okoro is only 6'5 and can't shoot. My eye test seems like Pat Williams is far bigger, and more importantly, plays a lot bigger than Grant Williams.

Also might be getting a pick in return from another trade but got nothing outside that bit of info. So far though only one bite and even then not a done deal the feeling is about 50% . The other trade is a player for pick and etc. I'll know more Thursday
Did we ever hear an update?

Execuse me.
There is NOWAY Saddiq Bey is a good defender as Covington or Crowder.
College stats
Covington 2.2 steal, 1.7 blk
Crowder 2.5 steal, 1.0 blk
Saddiq Bey 0.8 steal, 0.4 blk
I will stay away from Saddiq Bey
Saddiq in the best case is an average defender.
Tyler Bey 1.5 steal, 1.2 blk is a better defender, who has the potential to be Covington/Crowder
However, his 3 pointer is not reliable up to now.
But I like him more than Saddiq Bey

I'm there too.
My first inclination is to just take another switchable wing. I really don't want anybody else that can be picked on. With that said, I'm taking Terry if he is there at 14. It could bomb, but I'm taking a real swing with our last good pick.

IMHO, Steward is not similar to Harrell.
The best case of Steward is the 2017-18 playoff Aron Baynes.
Strong, interior defender against Embiid in defense
Good three point threat in offense.
That is a very good center in modern NBA.
I don't see Steward developing into the pick and roll killer as Harrell . due to his limited speed and below the rim athlete.

Stewart plays with the same kind of energy. He keeps coming at you. Tireless.
Below the rim athlete? Not with a 9'2" standing reach.
I've seen lots of players. Sometimes I miss, but more often than not I get it right. Barring injury, this kid's floor is a 10-year rotation player. I'm not sure where his ceiling is, but with the exception of Wiseman I don't see a higher one. Okongwu and Toppin are the mock draft heroes du jour, I suppose, but here is Stewart vs Okongwu head to head. Bottom line: Stewart: 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, Okongwu: 10 points, 9 rebounds.

Now people are talking about I Stewart. Before that is was Nnaji, before that is was D Oturu.
So if second tier centers mean players not commonly picked in the lottery (1-14) who would be your top choice of these Centers at 26?? leaving out J Smith and Precious
1 - I Stewart
2 - Z Nnaji
3 - D Oturu
4 - V Carey
5 - X Tillman
each one has different positives and negatives.. but we can only draft one..

I never said he was as good. I said he’s a similar type of player to them, except more of a guy to cover Smalls relative to Jae and man relative to RoCo.
Watch games and analyze production relative to scheme. Bey is absolutely a good man defender. You could not have watched the Kansas game and came to any other conclusion.
FWIW, i stand by saying that RoCo is not a good man defender.

With all respect, Bey is probability a good man defender against NCAA talent.
But all statistics suggests Saddiq Bey is at best an average defender in NBA. I could not find another good NBA defender whose NCAA steal <1 and blk <1.
Saddiq is an outlier against history, maybe, but I won't expect it.
