Yeah, worse efficiency, but its pretty damn close to the same. As a matter of fact, their stats are rather similar all down the board. DFS is the better defender, but i wouldnt say its by that much.
But i do disagree with you on Dallas not needing a self creator. I think that was one of the biggest issues that the Mav's had last season. Everyone relied on Doncic way way too much, and could do very little on their own. Teams caught on and learned if you can shut Doncic down, you shut the rest of the team down. Put your best defender on Luka and make his life hell. The only real player on that team that could somewhat create for himself was Hardaway Jr. (Whos efficacy has been right around 42% during his time in Dallas).
In my eyes, they are sending out Hardaways 1 year deal (Making $20M by the way) and getting back a better player (Both on offense and defense) in Oubre who is making about $4M less this season and if they chose to keep him will make right around what Hardaways past contact was ending at. Im looking at this deal more as them getting Oubre for HardawayJr and PatBev for DFS. They need that guy that can break from the play and take it to the rim. The guy who can draw the contact and get to the FT Line (Oubre attempted as many FT's per game as HardawayJr and DFS COMBINED). I also have them picking up PatBev to bring that added defense to the starting 5 that they need.
PatBev/Wright/Brunson
Oubre/Curry
Doncic/Jackson
Porzingis/Kleber
Powel/Boban
Doncic would continue to run the point from the SF position. This leaves PatBev to conserve the energy usually spent controlling the ball and running the offense to be better spent on the defensive end, turning him into a straight 3&D player at the PG spot.
