Let FVV walk
Gallinari MLE
Powell + Stan + McCaw for Kevin Love
Draft Nnaji and Winston
Ibaka/Nnaji
Love/Gallo
OG/Watson
Harden/Davis
Lowry/Winston
Rest Love and Gallinari for the playoffs by not playing them too much in the regular season.
1) Houston isn't stupid, they're not going to do that deal. Siakam can be great but Harden is great.
2) okay you resign Ibaka to what term?
3) Depends on the money offered to Freddy. If it's in the $17-$21 million for 3-4 years you bring him back
4) Gallo is going to get more than the MLE in a very weak fa class
5) Hell no! Love is crap, the guy can't stay healthy, play defense and is owed quite a bit money for 2 more season. I don't like his fit with Ibaka. You have two weak defensive players in that lineup.
6)Nnaji is okay with the first round pick but I hope Toronto can take Tre Jones or Hagans over Winston.
I don't trust Winston at a NBA level as a backup yet. Don't get me wrong the kid had a great career at Michigan State but I don't think he's game is going to
translate well to The NBA level. At least with the other two your getting guys who have NBA bodies right now
Amen to not trusting Winston
If the mocks are anywhere near accurate, this ain't much of a draft.
This is why I have little hopes in this year's NBA draft. I don't really pay close attention to NCAA anymore, and most draft previews and player bios are marketing fluff, but I live in the Detroit TV market so I've caught enough MSU games to have a view on Winston.
I really doubt Cassius Winston ever earns a rotation role in the NBA, but yet he keeps showing up on mock drafts as a late first round pick. Yikes! Winston by all reports a great guy, great teammate - but not ready to play in the NBA next year.
This draft reminds on the 2000 draft when Mateen Cleaves was drafted (in the lottery!) by the Pistons. I knew Mateen was not NBA material, and so I expected the draft to be bad with a few decent players scattered throughout. It turned out that the best player taken was Michael Redd at #43, and the lottery only had 3 or 4 guys who turned into regular rotation players.
So, for Toronto, this is a really good time for Masai to take a flyer on some guy we've never heard of. Stash him in Europe, and keep him off the team's Salary cap, and maybe have something in a year (or two, or three). I'll be thrilled if it's some guy Masai knows from Africa that doesn't even show on mocks, because #29 pick is looking more like a liability than an asset.
And definitely
- no plans for a rookie to start
- no relying on rookies for rotation minutes
- no trades for defensive liabilities like Love, Gallo or even Harden
