Bledsoe and Hill aren't as good as Jrue, but they aren't chumps, and you throw in 3 effing first rounders and 2 swaps on top of that? It's lunacy. Look at what valuable role players go for and tell me they couldn't have put the mountain of draft capital they gave up to better use.
This whole "this is the move that gets Giannis to re-sign" is stupid too. He may re-sign, but it won't be because of this move. Why would shipping out every single trading asset you have for a medium PG upgrade make him more likely to stay? There are no improvements left for the team to make. They're going to have to make it work with minimum contracts from here out, with no picks, and Giannis knows that.
We were a 70 win paced team last year before the shutdown.
Our biggest flaw was a secondary ball handler and literally anyone that can create other than Middleton.
In the playoffs, teams were throwing 4 guys at Giannis and it killed our offense.
We just added two guys that are both better shooters (in terms of volume) and kept our defense in tact. As part of this, we move from asking Khris Middleton from being a #2 option to a number three. And we ask Brook from going to being a #3 option to a #5 option on offense. All while adding shooting and not giving up much on the defensive end.
Factor in these moves were very likely the deals that would get Giannis to sign extension, and that two other teams were ready to pony up 3 first round picks (and I agree the market value was nuts, but still the market value) and I am thrilled with the moves so far, albeit sucks to have to give up so much. This team is much, much better IMO.
