Who are you thinking? I don't really love any center in our range but if I were to choose, I'd pick Nnaji for his upside as a mobile defender with shooting potential.

The names that we see most include...
Smith
Stewart
Nnaji
Tillman
Oturu
Vernon Carey Jr

Any bold predictions for tomorrow night? I'm gonna say one of Norm or Davis will be traded.

I can see Davis being traded for a second round pick. Maybe some other team doesnt care about the court case, but I dont think the Raptors will play him a single minute until his court case is over.

That makes too much sense. It's hard to see a future where TD is resigned. Might as well cash in on a deep draft.

I am not sure those measure out to be a center, even Nnaji would be more of a PF. Stewart with 7'5 wingspan may consider to be one, but others are average or below average PF wingspan. I can see Wesson comes into play as an undraft instead.

I think you are better off looking at FA market for Gasol or Ibaka replacement, such as Poeltl would be better than Nnaji for the next 2 years. These rookies are likely cause you games than give you games if we are playing them any major minutes. I don't even think they are at Boucher level.

I see we are keeping Davis. I am not sure what is the reason for trading Davis.

You must have missed it but I said that I don't see the Raptors resigning Davis.

If there’s a prospect I’d want to trade up for its Okongwu. Has Bam written all over him. Nigerian kid too

I'll be bold and say Lowry gets traded to the Hawks tomorrow night and we draft Okongwu.

I’d give it a 10% chance if it weren’t the hawks. Hawks have no use for a player like Lowry at their stage right now especially with their franchise player being the same position.

I’d love it if we could manage a trade to grab Okongwu though. I wonder if 29+Norm+TD could do it

Hawks fans are throwing around ideas like #6 for DeRozan on their board lol.
Lowry value wise could net us #6. But like you said their franchise player plays the same position.
Lowry would be good for Young's development though, as well as the rest of the young guys on that team. Hawks wanna win and get to the playoffs and they'll need a veteran leader, who knows what it takes to win, if they want to accomplish that.
I did say ''bold prediction'' though.

I like the boldness but I think Lowry is not going anywhere. Listen to Bobby on Tim and Sid when he basically outlined our core team: It starts with Lowry who is being continually doubted by people that he can’t continue to play at a high level and then he said Fred, OG and Pascal are all key. So, yes I am assuming they re-sign Fred and that makes the PG side of things less of a driving need.

When Sid was asking about 29 and needs to fill on the roster with free agency, Bobby spouted that BPA is how the team decides picks. He went further to say that this year is basically weird. Talked about short-time to get prospect ready and considers it important that the guy they draft is healthy and ready to go.

To me that points to a big that would be plug and play. I think they'd love to get Tillman or Tillie or both.

To me, you can use Killian Tillie as an undersized C and survive in the modern NBA. Averaging 40% for four years from three means he is a legit stretch four/five. He is healthy coming in and a high IQ guy that knows the game and is basically a rotation player from day one. A guy who is similar and could fall to them is Jalen Smith and you could easily see an Ibaka type of role for him.

Maybe a bit ahead of both is Xavier Tillman. He is rock solid as a rotation big and will be good within Toronto's schemes. Adds a toughness that is kind of missing with Toronto and his playmaking is well known at this point. After watching a few interviews with this guy he is just so high character that he cannot fail.

As Nurse mentioned before, they need some wing depth, so I think they tackle that at the end of the draft or trade up. Powell would make sense to clear him off the books and add to that area of need. I'd be impressed if they got a 15-25 pick for Powell and maybe Davis and selected Saddiq Bey. He'd just be an awesome fit in Toronto.

At 59, get a versatile guy like Naji Marshall to play SF/PF or Kaleb Wesson or Nathan Knight to play PF/C to round out the bench.

FVV/McCaw
Lowry/Watson
OG/Bey
Siakam/Marshall
Tillman/free agent big Harry Giles or Nerlens Noel

OG was the surprise one though. Wright and Poeltl maybe. but nonetheless this is why I trust Masai if the Raptors tanked lol if the Raptors stock farmed picks in the right draft, (2021?) Raptors could easily rebuild literally 1 year with high ceiling, superstar level talent again.

There were pages about OG.

All of us thought OG would be gone before the Raptors pick though. It was a miracle he fell

I went to the thread and was reminded how much I loved Jonah Bolden. I thought he had stupid potential. Aye, but Masai and OG we're meant to be.

What time will the draft be held, and is it airing or something we'll have to watch online?

I've seen 7pm on ESPN and on Sportsnet it looks like 7:30. Is ESPN doing a 1 hour preview while Sportsnet doing 1/2 hour?

Yeah espn usually does a 1 hour preview. Do we know what this draft is going to be like? Is it gonna be like the NFL draft a couple months back with Adam silver making the pick announcements virtually from home lol. Or is there an actual venue with the green room prospects? (I’m assuming not)

We really should not be using this pick to try and address current needs ie/ a big man. Want immediate contribution, that's what free agency is for.

The draft is all about looking forward and generally 3-4 years out how does that players project because usually that's when they've redefined their role and in their rookie season its typically smaller roles and contributions and certainly not enough to compensate for the lose of previous position of depth.

Some of you really need to come to terms with the fact that we're no longer competing for a chance to make the Finals - we're taking a step back. Now have to start building the foundation over for the next run and that happens by trying to get the best talent we can in draft because it offers a cheap opportunity for that upside. There are plenty of stop gap bigs that would give us similar production to a rookie big.
