Question is which first round pick, tonight's or a future #1.

Philly is one of those teams that's got the ammo to move up in the draft. They have the 34 and 36th picks overall.

Ok

Hoops Rumors wrote:The two picks headed to Oklahoma City are the Sixers’ 2025 first-round pick – which will be “lightly” protected – and the 34th pick in tonight’s draft, sources tell Wojnarowski (Twitter link). According to Woj (Twitter link), Philadelphia will also receive wing Terrance Ferguson in the swap, while OKC will acquire the rights to draft-and-stash prospect Vasilije Micic, a 26-year-old who is considered one of the top point guards in Europe.

Klay Thompson injured his leg today. Hope it’s not serious.

Lets all take a moment to acknowledge the late Tommy Heinsohn as we enter the first draft without him in God knows how long.

Apparently Klay's injury is an Achilles. Awful.

Brutal. Honestly think this might have been a contributor to scuttling whatever deal Ainge had to move up to #2. Completely changes the timeline/complexion of GSWs future.

Ilyasova being waived suggests to me the league decreed privately that the Bucks/Kings deal would never be allowed, due to the rule-breaking/-bending around its announcement.

Well, we did draft a couple of guys said to have high motors. Tommy liked that.

Ainge never had a deal to move up according to the press reports that I read. I don't even think it was close at all.... I really thought the odds of Celtics getting #2 from the Warriors were less than 1%. I do think the Warriors interest in Smart was genuine but the Warriors wanted significantly more than Marcus Smart. And Ainge wasn't prepared to pay that price. So, no deal and probably short phone conversations.

If Warriors had the third pick instead of the 2nd, it would have been easier to pry it loose from them since was fairly certain going into the draft they like Wiseman and Edwards. I do not think they liked Ball. He reminded them a little too much of DLo who they never liked at all. Warriors knew all along that DLo was a poor fit but they just acquired him to flip him.

I believe the Warriors board based a little bit on need was 1) Wiseman 2) Edwards. I am not even sure if Klay's injury flipped their board. The Warriors know with the Lakers having Lebron and Davis, they need more than just Draymond Green to compete even if Klay was healthy.

That's brutal. And they drafted a big at #2. That dynasty continuation window closed in a second.

Can the Heat legally pay for insurance (disability type) for Bam waiting a year on the max contract? That's a heck of an ask otherwise. If he gets hurt this year (or just isn't as effective), and they don't offer it to him, he's screwed. Obviously, they're under no obligation to extend him early, and the potential teammate upside is very nice, but it definitely adds risk for Bam.
