Portis doesn't fit the culture. Poor locker room fit.

We all know the answer to that. KAT, despite having some rough edges, is a generational talent and has potential to be the best big in the league.
Pat would absolutely pick up.
Pat would compromise all his core values to trade a ton for an all offense, near zero reliable defense center that doesn't like his coaches to cuss or yell(something Spoelstra does a lot of)?
This isn't 2k. That said, if Towns had the right mindset(which he probably won't ever have) he could be a top 5 player easily.

I expect Miami will keep its young pieces like Nunn & Herro, especially in the face of salary cap constraints. I feel Miami needs a power forward to run next to Adebayo more than help in the backcourt.
I predict this offseason Miami will resign Crowder and Derrick Jones Jr to one-year deals and draft a front court player to develop (C or PF, Precious Achiuwa, Aleksej Pokuševski, Vernon Carey, or Jalen Smith), but Miami's next significant piece should be someone like Giannis or Davis rather than Beal.
I expect Miami to resign Dragic too, so money will be scarce. It's the same everywhere though.
The end goal should be to pair Butler & Adebayo with another key piece.

At this stage of his career, it would be shocking if Hayward signed with NY who is hopeless in their chances to make the playoffs next year.

The more I look at that line up the more I fall in love. It doesn't matter if you're playing against the starters or the bench, you are going to get suffocated by relentless defense and 3 point threats while giving us size on the court to match up against teams with good bigs. If we had at least one decent big not named Bam in the play off we might have pulled it off regardless of the injuries.
At this point, it'd have to be a sign and trade, right? Jae and Goran are going to take our cap space.

You’re kidding yourself if you truly believe Riley wouldn’t be interested in a talent like KAT if he willingly came out and stated that he wanted to be traded to Miami.

It might peak Riley's interest but if Jimmy tells him no then he's not going to make a deal. Jimmy has already called it, the guy is soft. Not a Miami Heat type player.

Prepare yourself for a shock then. He declined a $34m player option. That money's coming back from someone. For me it reeks of the Knicks.

Cmon_Son-_- wrote:Jimmy's problem wasn't necessarily with KAT. His problem was with the organization not holding guys accountable because they wanted to baby them. That wouldn't happen here. Sure Jimmy would probably be consulted but Jimmy's not going to say no to making the team better.
In my opinion I'm not going to judge the character of player in a bad organization if it was the Spurs, Mavs, Raptors, etc then I think it would be room for concern but even if any of that matter, Pat signed Dion, James Johnson and Whiteside who all were Anti HeatCulture guys before and excluding JJ after.

Why is Payton SUCH a need? He’d be our 3rd string PG
Our guard defense is mediocre and Payton is an elite defender. That's how he's a need.
I don’t think our guard defense is so bad that we need to sacrifice for a guy who is such a liability on offense.
Also don’t want to look at a player who was a below average to mediocre player on horrible teams as someone who will put us over the top.
The amount Payton would hurt us offensively takes away anything he would do on D. I’d rather see if Nunn can improve defensively (after finishing on the 1st team all rookie team).
Honestly, have you watched Payton? He’s pretty atrocious. People like to think he is Rondo but he is a poor mans version of Rondo which is.... well.... bad

Not surprised we extended the QO for Vincent. His GLeague numbers were terrific, even if he sucked pretty bad in the minutes he did get with us in the big leagues. Still, there's something there that's worth pursuing with.
I can't imagine we're just going to run it back. Surely we have something in the works?
