Patrick is growing on me man. The more I think about it the more it’s just gotta be that he was showing AK that he had the body fluidity of late to legitimately defend threes, and that his handles and shooting were improved since end of NCAA. So of course it would be silly not to trust what he, ME and team telling us they saw, at least for now.
At first I was a little worried about him being sort of reserved, combined with him coming off the bench last year, and had a bit of a rant about WCJ earlier in thread. But it’s mostly because this is such a young team and I am genuinely worried after the last couple years if they can find that fire, individually and collectively, that will elevate everyone’s play (along with health and good coaching). But yeah, I guess I was a little gun shy about the mentals, but the more I see of him the less concerned I am. Like there’s not a lot to glean from the Predraft interview above, but I sort of come off thinking that this dude is one tough cookie for a 19 yr old, he stuck to his guns/script and didn’t give an inch when asked about workouts, like he had a diploma from the lovie smith school of press-conference giving. And he’s pretty adamant about this 1-4 thing... I mean you can say the kid is humble, esp with him saying he’ll be happy to hand out Gatorades if that’s the role the Bulls want him to play, but can you actually think of a less humble thing to say than he believes he can play 1 - 4 in the freaking NBA???
Maybe he does have that pathological sort of drive in him for real... hope so and hope he doesn’t get discouraged if he has more misses than makes this year (him being seen as raw may be a blessing in disguise in this regard)... time will certainly tell.
