Agreed. We are just too good at the top of our roster now to not have a bottom of it.
Kemba | Smart | Brown | Tatum | Turner

Pretty thin.
You left off Theis who would be a damn fine backup center. If we redirect whatever IND send back with Turner (McDermott, Lamb, Leaf, whatever) to another team, then we can use the full MLE while ducking the tax after adding Turner if we also let Ojeleye go and replace him with a rookie minimum. You can split that MLE up too and basically turn it into a tax payers MLE plus a bi-annual exception, which should let you get two rotation pieces.
That's the key to me. We need to pull in a 3rd team to take whatever IND is sending out with Turner. I don't even care if we need to attach minor assets to it - none of it would really be anything consequential to us. Hayward for Turner + additional FA spending power is a good move for us. It just is. Turner is a good fit on the court now and into the future. He also has trade value around the league. Every year Ainge is trying to move into the lottery and Turner has been pursued for picks there before. His salary is useful and desirable around the league so if we want to make moves for bigger salary guys then he presents options in pulling together trade packages. It just makes too much sense to not do this deal.
