Wing and Guard signings have 0 relevance to the big market. Look at the signings here that a serviceable non-star starting big goes for 9-16M. Turner makes more than that, hence he's a slight negative asset. Do I think we can rehab that value and make it positive, sure, but you don't pay for that on the trade market. The facts are he's a bench big making 18M per year.
Almost no one on that list is a starting C. Half of them play for the Pistons.
Could not disagree more on that take. Wood has started 14 games in his NBA career and Bertans is a back up SF. They have a unique skill at a unique size and that has gotten them paid.
The list isn't a "take" it's literally a list of the big man signings so far. He is playing starter minutes. I thought Sabonis had completely taken his spot, but would you rather pay 18M for Myles or Poetl and Trez??
Yes of course they are back ups part time players. Turner was selected for Team USA a season ago. He lead the NBA in blocked shots he has been a starter since his second year in the league.
The biggest difference between Turner being a border line all star two season ago and last season is 4% on his 3pt shot. He took less shots more 3s and shot them slightly worse. Yes I want to see more from him on the glass but he plays next to a hoover, Sabonis was 5th in the NBA rebounds per game with 12.8. Two years ago they didn't play Sabonis and Turner at the same time last year they did. Sabonis emerged as All Star caliber player and Turner regressed a little.
